Part-II.) Special Note:

 The Medical First Responder Course will be held in March for our “Volunteer Medical Responders”. Dates and times are still being worked out.

 I will be ordering construction type vests that are clearly marked “Medical First Responder” and “Pioneer Fire” for the Medical Volunteers. These vests meet ANSI and OSHA requirements for visibility and can be worn over T-Shirts and Jackets, the cost is roughly $25 per vest.

 I am working with Captain Ingram on a solution for the medical bags, initially, we will put together one complete “BLS” Airway Bag for the group to share. We will also be purchasing some AED’s. We hope to have the group operational sometime in April.

Part-III.) Personnel:

 We have lost Josue Razo back to CAL FIRE for the upcoming Fire Season, we wish him the best in his endeavors.

 Our Limited Term Firefighter Paramedic Jasson Felcher will be leaving to the City of Folsom in March.

 Reserve Firefighter Paramedic Brett Legoullon will be promoted to “Limited Term Firefighter Paramedic” and move to C-Shift. His contract term is for six months.

1  We have begun our annual Wildland Fire Training to prepare for the upcoming Fire Season, the training will take the next six to eight weeks to complete.

Part-IV.) Buildings & Grounds :

On duty staff are replacing some flooring in the bathrooms of the barracks to replace the worn linoleum, this item was budgeted for.

Part-V.) Fire Apparatus :

Annual services are complete as of this report, all apparatus are in service.

Part-VI.) El Dorado County Fire Chief’s Association & County JPA:

I have attached a letter from the USFS regarding their response policy. The letter states that the Forest Service Will Not be responding to calls for service unless requested by the agency with jurisdiction. This position is unchanged from last year and I have directed staff to request the Federal Engine in Grizzly Flats for medical calls. It is up to the Federal Officer in the Command Center to determine if they will be dispatched. The concern and dissatisfaction with the USFS over this position was very clearly stated numerous times by myself and several other Chief Officers in El Dorado County.

Part-VII.) Miscellaneous:

 No update from CAL PERS.

 The new Fire Engine is still on schedule for a July delivery, I will be flying back to KME with our mechanic in May.

 I am still working with SCI on resolving some issues with the Nexus Study.

 We have applied for a grant to purchase smoke alarms, car seats and life vests, if successful, we want to work with the school district and church to provide these items to low income families. Some training to staff will be required.

 The staff are working with the PVFA to come up with a fund raiser this summer, more to follow.

 The Union will be holding a boot drive for the Firefighters Burn Institute in April, funds raised go directly to the burn center and Shiners Hospital.

I met with a concerned citizen who has asked me to reach out to local individuals and organizations in regards to the school zone speed limit in front of Mountain Creek Middle School. We are asking everyone to take caution and adhere to the school zone speed limit. We have seen a significant increase in Motor

2 Vehicle Accidents that are severe in nature in the last few months. We will be working with the School District and Local Law Enforcement on this issue.
