The Rockstars of Short Course Off Road Turn It Up At The Big House TORC Rounds 9 & 10 Crandon 40th Anniversary

For just over 40 years, motorsport fans and off road enthusiasts have made an annual pilgrimage to the township of Crandon Wisconsin. The mid western community is a picture perfect scene of classic small town America. Normally home to about 1800 residents, during race weekend, Crandon swells to well over 30,000. The activities kicked off on Main Street and a full day of interaction with all the participants and off road super stars followed by a parade of high performance race vehicles out to the nearby race track. TORC Promoter, Mitch Covington shared during a recent interview “The history behind this event is remarkable when you consider how the entire community is intertwined with this race. It's unlike anything I've ever experienced in all forms of motorsports.”

This year’s event was considered a major milestone, falling on Labor Day weekend, this was Crandon’s 40th Anniversary of the Off Road World Championship Borg Warner Cup (the sister cup to the Indianapolis 500). The fans of off road racing came from all over, filling the 500 Acre facility and reaching a near record crowd of over 40,000.

Rockstar Hart and Huntington Premiere Motorsports Group sent two of the teams’ winningest drivers, Chris Brandt and John Fitzgerald to continue the crusade of seeking multiple championships titles for the 2009 season. Leading up to the Crandon event, Brandt had racked up eleven podium finishes and Fitzgerald earned ten, including five 1st place finishes. Both drivers are contenders in each of the top short course off road racing series.

The 40,000 plus fans collected in the warm Wisconsin sun for two exciting rounds of the Traxxas Off Road Championship, the coveted Borg Warner Cup, and the Pro Light Pickup Cup Race “Decision At Sundown”. With the amount of action centered around TORC plus two prestigious cup races up for grabs, Crandon was the focus of many big names including NASCAR driver Robby Gordon, motorcycle legend Ricky Johnson, and action sport superstar Jeremy McGrath.

Off road racing is well known for its unprecedented wheel to wheel contact between the competitors, high speed action, crazy points battles, and devastating crashes. This type of motorsport can take its toll on even the most well prepared teams, removing them out of contention. The excitement throughout the weekend definitely delivered, providing a number of intense wrecks, vehicle fires, and surprise finishes. One of which had Robby Gordon crossing in reverse. All of the action was viewed live on ABC during Labor Day.

For the Rockstar PMG Team, the weekend of racing started on Friday evening. Chris Brandt showed up for the Pro Light Showdown with his #82 Lucas Oil Hart and Huntington Toyota, ready for business. As the sun went down, Chris turned on the heat at the “Big House”. In the end it appeared Chad Hord was again the man to beat taking the lead and edging out Brandt for the Forest County Potawami “Decision At Sundown” Pro Light Pickup Cup Race. Chris continued with another exciting podium finish taking 3rd in Saturday’s Round 9 race and provided him some valuable points to gain some ground in the championship points battle.

John Fitzgerald has basically hosted a Rockstar driving clinic for the 1600 division showing total domination throughout the season. The points battle for the championship shows John closing in on the lead. Sitting tied for 2nd, Fitzgerald has won 6 out of his last 8 events and the Crandon TORC Rounds 9 & 10 makes it three straight wins in a row.

The next stop on the 2009 TORC race schedule is Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, California. The action will take place over two evenings, starting on Friday September 25rd and 26th, 2009. The track set up inside the Perris Stadium will provide plenty of tight action under the lights. Expecting a large field of entries, Chris Brandt and Fitzgerald will likely have their hands full battling it out on the closed high speed course. With only 4 rounds left and the championship points battle winding down, you can be certain these two short course “Aces” will be on their “A-Game” and aiming for the top podium.

Enduring the fierce schedule of back to back racing; Brandt, Fitzgerald and the rest of the Rockstar Hart and Huntington Premiere Motorsports Group will again re-converge in Surprise Arizona for yet another action packed weekend of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series. Speed World has been transformed into a state of the art and highly technical short course that provides the fans with great views of all the action. During the last visit, SpeedWorld Off Road Park enjoyed sold out crowds and has recently made preparations to accommodate as many as 15,000 fans for the next rounds taking place on October 17-18. In other news, the Premiere Motorsports Group has been working hard to create plenty of opportunities to enjoy the sport on and off the track. In a joint promotion, we have launched a brand new contest where you can win a Rockstar special edition Haro BMX Bike just by singing up on our website, www.hartandhuntingtonoffroad.com.
