GUIDANCE – CORE ESSENTIALS – The values that have been covered are Responsibility, Creativity, Gratitude, Generosity, Commitment and Kindness. The value for March is Patience and the animal that represents this value is the Spider. Please look for a monthly guidance newsletter from Mrs. Jennings, our school counselor.

JUMP ROPE FOR HEART – Our Jump Rope for Heart event generated $7,348 in donations. Mrs. Bogolin, our P.E. teacher would like to thank all those who contributed to this worthy cause as well as all of our parents who helped with the event. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!

SMP YOUNG WRITERS - Congratulations to the following students who were our WV Young Writers school winners: Lillian Bloom and Brianna Shirk, 1st grade; Ethan Norton and Kyra Summers, 2nd grade. These students’ entries will now be submitted to the WV Young Writers state competition.

PTA REFLECTIONS – The following students were county winners of the PTA Reflections program: In the Literature category, 2nd grade students, Ethan Norton, 1st place, Brianna Davis, 2nd place; Brianna Nair, 3rd place; and 1st grade student, Haley Rees, 4th place. In the Photography category, 1st grade student, Bryce Cookus placed 1st and 2nd. Congratulations to all of our county winners. Their entries will now be submitted at the state level.

“ A CHANCE FOR CHANGE” RELAY FOR LIFE COIN DRIVE - Students are invited to participate in our American Cancer Society “A Chance for Change Drive”, March 9th through March 20th. The winning grade level will be awarded a wellness break of walking the Spring Mills High School track! Thank you for your support in our Relay for Life coin drive.

KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION - Monday, April 20, 2015 from 8:00 am until 2:30 pm for children turning age 5 before September 1, 2015. Please call the school office at 304-274-5892 to schedule an appointment. Only the incoming kindergarten student and their parent or guardian is to attend registration. Please allow time for vision, speech, language and readiness screening. You will need to bring the following: your child’s immunization record, well check-up documentation, state certified birth certificate (county or hospital birth certificates are not acceptable), social security card, and proof of residence ( must be electric, water, sewer, or cable bill or, if renting, a copy of your lease). Please alert friends, relatives, and neighbors who have upcoming kindergartners to call for an appointment time. Student registration forms may be accessed from the Berkeley County Schools Website http://www.berkeleycountyschools.org.
