WGI RESPONSIBILITIES

 Set dates/invite entries for all events and confirm with Host Clubs.  Publish a detailed schedule of events on the WGI Website (including interclub draws and any entry fees applicable).  Liaise with Clubs to determine venues for future Events/Interclub  Locate Trophies – invite donors to present  Arrange Prizes

3 CLUB RESPONSIBILITIES

HOSTING

Prior to Event Two weeks prior: - Ensure Management, Caterers, Greenkeepers, Committees are aware of forthcoming event. - Appoint Tournament Committee - Assess potential number of Players and expected time on the course. - Determine Start time & Starting Tees. Host Clubs are entitled to ensure that their course and facilities are utilised in the most time effective way. Unless justified by the numbers entered in the competition, or the club chooses to, it may be unnecessary to close the course.

Tournament Committee Provide Registration Area with Draws, Cards and Course Handicap Charts. Appoint Starters, Marshals and Spotters. Arrange Scoring area/Scorers. Local Rules Any not already on Club Cards - Simple (eg placing) display on Notice Board; - More complicated arrange for printed version to either be attached to cards or to be given to players. (It is unnecessary for Starters to provide all local rule information to players on the tee).

Cards It is recommended that cards be - available on the Starting Tees; - pre-printed (after handicap roll over date). It is the Host Club's responsibility to process all cards promptly

HOSTING INTERCLUB

(See also sections above and below)

Tees/Tee Times Starting times and the number of tees to be used are to be determined by the Host Clubs. Those times and the number of tees to be used should be communicated by the club to participating clubs.

Team Sheets Will be available on the WGI website at 12pm on the Friday before the match.

Hospitality Clubs may wish to have pre match refreshments available for purchase when players arrive at the course. It is unnecessary to provide refreshments at the "turn" or through the course.

Starting tees Starters should be at their Starting Tees 10 minutes prior to tee off and & Times should endeavour to keep the matches to time. Starters should call players names and their opponent in playing order.

Late Starting: If a player arrives at her starting tee, ready to play, within 5 minutes after her starting time, the penalty for failing to start on time is loss

4 of the first hole (Rule 6-3). Penalty for lateness after 5 minutes is disqualification. In the event of unusual circumstances (traffic being unduly delayed because of an accident) host clubs should use their discretion and may start matches which are ready to proceed.

Scoring Transfer to WGI Results Sheets - Match/Player details Score Results per match —1 point for win; 1/2 point for all square; Record any defaults or disqualification on sheet and give 1 point to "winner" Check cards properly are completed and confirm receipt on result sheet.

Cards Process for Handicapping purposes Note: Cards which are incomplete or unable to be read should be returned to the players for completion/correction.

Results A set of Result Sheets must be available to each participating team and WGI within 5 days of the completion of each round. (If possible, forwarded electronically).

Slow Play The host club is responsible for monitoring the Pace of Play, and should appoint officials to monitor the pace of play. These officials are empowered to address any pace of play issues in accordance with the Wellington Golf Interclub and Tournament Slow Play Policy.

Inclement Rounds should proceed unless the Course Superintendent/Course Weather Management closes the course.

Depending upon the projected weather forecast and any other commitments the club has for course usage on the day, it may be possible to delay the start. If Postponement occurs then it is the responsibility of the Host Club to provide: - a Postponement Notice on Newstalk ZB (phone 04 4721035) prior to 7.00am if possible; - to endeavour to contact Teams who may be in transit; - to notify the General Manager WGI.

Course Unplayable Suspension of Play: The Host Club may suspend play if the course becomes unplayable after commencement of play. (Refer Rule 33(d). If play cannot resume because of course conditions, all games shall be abandoned and may be replayed over 18 holes at a later date. 18 hole matches cannot be reduced to nine hole matches.

Reserve Days If play is postponed the Host Club should liaise with the General Manager WGI to arrange play on one of the Reserve Days.

Injuries If a player has to withdraw from a match due to injury or illness the result should be determined from the last completed hole. Lansdowne: Refer Lansdowne rules regarding substitute player for pm round.

Disputes In the event of any dispute arising on the day of play which requires a prompt decision; it shall be decided by the Tournament Committee of the Host club along with any Wellington Golf Inc delegate if present who has not been involved in the day’s event. (Refer also to Rule 2.5).

5 Teams of short Host clubs may use their discretion as to the best way to manage a ‘two’ in a Players field of fours. This may involve starting the match from another tee or combining two ‘two’s’ from unrelated matches to facilitate the pace of play on the course.

INFORMATION REGARDING THE MANAGEMENT OF INTERCLUB TEAMS

Player Eligibility To be eligible all players taking part in the Wellington District Women's Interclub Competitions must have a current NZGA Handicap Index. Refer each competition for specific handicap ranges but the maximum Handicap index is 40.4.

Players must be Financial Playing Member of a Member Club. (Playing Member means any member, including Junior Members, with playing rights, but does not include Country Members (or similar) of that Club,)

Players may play for their home club where their Handicap Index is held or alternatively for any secondary club that they have full playing rights at.

A player who is a Playing Member of more than one Member Club may represent one club in one competition and another club in a different competition.

Players must have a permanent address within the WGI jurisdiction and have resided there for a minimum period of 4 weeks prior to competing in any interclub match.

Subject to prior approval in writing from WGI, each club may select one player only whose residency within the WGI jurisdiction is of a temporary nature, or whose handicap is normally maintained outside the area of the WGI jurisdiction. This player must comply with the ‘permanent address’ rule above.

Amalgamated\ Amalgamated teams are allowed in all Wellington District Women’s Combined Teams interclub competitions.

Rules for amalgamated teams are:  Two Member Clubs may form an amalgamated team.  The team must comprise a 50-50 split of players from each club.  A 60-40 team split may be applied for from WGI.  Players must be registered with WGI at the start of the season.  Any changes to players throughout the season must be applied for to WGI.  For home games all matches must be played on the same course during one season. Courses should be alternated for the next year.

Team Forms for Clubs must enter their teams on the WGI website by 10am on the Rounds Friday before each match. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.

6 Team forms will be available for viewing after 12pm. Team Forms should show the contact details (including cell phone numbers) of the person who should be contacted in the case of last minute changes (eg: postponement of play/course closures.) This person is not necessarily the Team Captain. (refer below for responsibilities of Team Captain.)

If team details change between the times the team is submitted and the Playing Day the amended Team Form is to be taken to the venue on the Day of Play, and submitted to the Host Club no later than 30 minutes prior to tee off time.

Team Captain Each Team must have a Team Captain appointed for the day and that person shall be named on the Team Form. Team members should be aware of who is acting in this capacity. The Team Captain (whether playing or non playing) is responsible for ensuring that the latest team sheet (ie containing any chances) is available to the host club no later than 30minutes before tee off time and that each player knows the order of play.

Teams short When a Club is unable to field a full of Players team the Club can default individual matches.

If known in advance, the Captain/Manager of the team which is short of players should notify WGI, the Host Club and the Opposition Team as soon as possible before the day of play of the number of players the team will be short. Once this notification has been made, even if a replacement player subsequently becomes available, no replacement(s) may be entered for that round. For all matches the default will be at the end of the team. Where concurrent 4bbb matches are played, if a team is short of only one player, the remaining player may contest the 4bbb against two opposition players.

36 Hole Interclub: Assuming only one default, only 2 of the morning foursomes matches can be completed. As the pairings for the Foursomes is at the discretion of the clubs, the opposing team may still need to take 6 players to the venue unless the two teams are agreeable to revealing the playing

7 order of their teams prior to the day of play.

Team Defaults If a Club defaults an entire team round it may be asked to withdraw from the competition. The offending club will be asked to make a submission to WGI to enable consideration of all factors.

In the event of a withdrawal, the points for all other clubs will be recalculated as though the withdrawn team had not participated.

Trophies for Clubs wishing to nominate one of their players for these trophies must do so players with the on the relevant form (available on WGI website). most individual wins For Pennants (one trophy for all pennant players), Mary Alward/Tuakana and 36 Hole interclub the nominations must be sent to WGI within 7 days of the conclusion of the Rounds. Matches won by default will be awarded one point.

In the event of a tie, a count back will be done on number of holes up. If a tie remains after the count back the trophy is held jointly.

If there are an uneven number of rounds in any competition, an apportionment of each player's results from all rounds will apply.

8 PLAYER RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS

Club Membership All players taking part in the Wellington District Women’s Interclub Competitions must be a Financial Playing Member of a Member Club. (Playing Member means any member, including Junior Members, with playing rights, but does not include Country Members (or similar) of the Club).

A player who is a Playing Member of more than one Member Club may represent one club in one competition and another club in a different competition.

Handicap Players taking part in WGI Fixtures must have a current NZG Handicap Index. Players must know their current handicap index and course handicap prior to tee off. While the Host Club may enter the Course Handicaps onto the Team Sheets/Cards, it is the player's responsibility to check that the details are correct.

Playing The maximum handicap index is 40.4. Handicap

Registration Players should register at the Host Course at least 30 minutes prior to tee off.

Score Cards Players are responsible for the legibility and accuracy of the scores signed for on their cards. Match results should also be entered on the card. Cards must be provided to the Scorers immediately following completion of each round. Note: Cards which are incomplete or unable to be read may be returned to the players for completion/correction.

Dress Code Players must adhere to the host club’s dress code.

Starting Players must ensure that they are at the starting tee 10 Tees/Tee minutes prior to tee off. Time

Rules of Golf Players should have a reasonable knowledge of the rules of golf and carry a current R & A Rules of Golf.

Protests/Disputes Must be made to the Scorer within 15 minutes of the completion of the round. Any dispute or difference arising out of, or relating to the competition shall be referred to the Host Club's Tournament Committee. Advice The Team Captain (playing or non-playing) may give advice of any nature to members of that team. That person is to be made known to the opposing team prior to play commencing. Singles & 4bbb matches played concurrently: Playing partners may provide advice to each other (Refer also to Decisions on Rule 30- 3/1). Honour The order of tee off will be determined by a toss between the first two players of each match on the starting tee.

9 Electronic Devices DMD’s may be used in accordance with WGI rules. Cell Phones must be turned off and not used during play.

Motorised Carts May not be used unless the player produces a supporting medical certificate to the Match Committee/WGI event organizer.

Code of Conduct All players must adhere to the District’s Code of Conduct.

Trophies Winners of Trophies are responsible for ensuring any trophies won are returned to WGI after photos taken after the event.

Slow Play Players are expected to play without delay and with consideration for others. It is a group’s responsibility to keep up with the group in front. Groups are requested to make an effort to regain their position relative to the group in front, or to the reasonable time assessed for the holes completed. If a delay is caused due to a lost ball (or similar) the players following should be called through. Players who are consistently warned for slow play may be penalized in accordance with the WGI Interclub and Tournament Slow Play Policy.

Vacating Course At the completion of the match, players are not entitled to continue to play. Any additional holes should be scored in accordance with NZGA’s rules for handicapping.

10 INTERCLUB MATCHPLAY COMPETITIONS

RULES APPLICABLE IN ADDITION TO THE RULES ABOVE

LANSDOWNE TROPHY: Division 1 of Weekend interclub.

Competition/Format  Matches will be played over 36 holes.  Match Play without application of handicap  AM: Foursomes matches over 18 holes. Pairings for foursomes are at the discretion of the club  PM: Singles matches over 18 holes. Order of play at the discretion of the club irrespective of handicap index. The preferred playing order is 6 through 1 but can be changed if the foursomes playing order causes a delay to a players singles starting time.

Number of players in each team 6

Maximum Number of Teams: 7  Clubs may enter only one team.  If the competition has a full complement of 7 teams and a further team seeks entry, it must challenge the team which was bottom of the points table in the previous year.  If there is a tie, the incumbent team will retain its place. (If there should be more than one team seeking entry, the challenging teams shall play off first. Any tie will be decided on a count back of holes won.

Draws and number of Rounds  If there are 5 or less teams in the competition matches will be on a Home & Away basis. 5 teams = 8 rounds.

 If there are 6 or more teams in the competition matches will be on a round robin basis with games played on neutral courses. Games will not be all teams at same course on same day. The top 4 teams play for a place in the finals (see winning team). 6 teams = 2 teams play 5 rounds, 1 team plays 6 rounds, 2 teams play 7 rounds, 1 team plays 8 rounds.

Player Eligibility  Movements of players from a higher to a lower division should be kept to a minimum in any one season.  A player may play in a lower division provided they have not played for the higher division more than twice.  Re-grading of players maybe requested from WGI by the club.  Players in finals teams must have played a minimum of 2 games during the season.

Injured or incapacitated player If a player becomes ill or is injured during or after the morning round a replacement player may be substituted for the afternoon round. The replacement player will play in the same position as the player she is replacing.

11 12 Winning Team  For 5 teams or less the winning team is the team with the most points at the completion of all rounds. (Count back system is to be decided and added to Rules by March 2014.)

 For 6 teams or more the four teams with the most points will play off for a position in the final. The team with the most points will play the 2nd scoring team and 3rd will play 4th. The winner of 1st and 2nd match goes to the final while the runner-up plays the winner of the 3rd and 4th place getters match. The winner of this match goes through to the final. (Countback system is to be decided and added to Rules by March 2014)

Field Day and Presentation of Trophies  The Field Day will be held after the completion of the Final.  Each Club participating in the Field Day will pay an Entry Fee.  Only players who participated in the Match Play may participate.  Each Club may enter a team of up to 3 pairs with the pairings at the club’s discretion.  No caddies may be used.  The Host Club shall determine the Start time but a Shot Gun Start at 9.00am is suggested.  It is recommended that the host club arranges a simple lunch which is prepaid at Registration.  The competition will be a Foursomes Stableford using handicap, (Handicap - half the pairs combined course handicaps, rounded up) with the top 2 scores counting towards the team score.  To be played in sixes. Trophies Lansdowne Trophy presented by Mrs Margaret Wallace Runner-up Jug presented by Mrs Peg Sargent Founders Trophy presented to the player with the most wins in the singles

13 MARY ALWARD/TUAKANA: Division 2 of Weekend interclub.

Competition/Format  Matches will be played Home and Away.  Match play with application of handicap.  Playing order is 1 to 8 in handicap index order.  Played in fours with concurrent singles and 4bbb  Team members within each four may give advice to their team members.  Played in 3 Sections (dependent on number of entries)

Number of players in each team: 8

Sections and Teams: Maximum of 6 teams per section with one team per club in the competition.

Player Eligibility  Movements of players from a higher to a lower division should be kept to a minimum in any one season.  A player may play in a lower division provided they have not played for the higher division more than twice

Section Winners  The winning team per section is the team with the most points at the completion of all rounds.  In the event of a tied result the winning team will be the winner of the matches between the two teams concerned.  If those matches were halved, a count back of singles matches will apply  If the count back still results in a tie, a count back of holes won shall apply.

Semi Finals and Finals (for 3 sections)  The winner of the Section with the highest points tally shall proceed directly to the final. The other two section winners shall play a Semi-final.  In the event of a tied sections result the team with the most games won will go through to the final. If a further count back is required the number of singles matches won will be counted then if further count back is required the winner will be decided by a coin toss.  In the event of a tie in the semi-final a count back of individual singles wins will determine the winner. If there is still a tie the No 8 players result shall be discarded, then No 7’s and so on until a winner is established. If there is still a tie the winner shall be decided by a coin toss.  In the event of a tie in the final a count back of individual singles wins will determine the winner. If there is still a tie the No 8 players result shall be discarded, then No 7’s and so on until a winner is established. If there is still a tie the trophies will be held jointly.  The semi-finals and final should be played on a neutral course.  The final should be played with the Field day unless this negates the neutral course.  The format of both will be concurrent singles and 4bbb over 18 holes.  Team members competing must be drawn from the players who have participated in Section Play.

Field Day and Presentation of Trophies

14  The Field Day will be held after the completion of Section Play and preferably with the Final.  Each Club participating in the Field Day will pay an Entry Fee.  Only players who participated in the Section Play may participate.  Each Club may enter a team of up to 4 pairs with the pairings at the club’s discretion.  No caddies may be used.  The Host Club shall determine the Start time but a Shot Gun Start at 9.00am is suggested.  It is recommended that the host club arranges a simple lunch which is prepaid at Registration.  The competition will be a Foursomes Stableford, (Handicap- half the pairs combined handicaps, rounded up)  To be played in sixes.

Trophies (Presented at the Field Day) The Mary Alward Cup: presented to the winning team of the Mary Alward\Tuakana final. The Tuakana Cup: presented to the runner-up team of the Mary Alward\Tuakana final. The Betty Duffy Trophy: for the most individual wins in Mary Alward\Tuakana. The Mary Alward Shield: presented to the team with the two highest Stableford scores at the field day. The Tuakana Salver: presented to the team with the second two highest Stableford scores at the field day. Wendy Ferreira Trophy: presented to the pair returning the highest Stableford score at the field day.

Seedings for Following Year The section winners will be seeded 1, 2 and 3 respectively. The remaining teams will be seeded according to the overall points table from Section play, (ties determined by lot) with the exception of any teams from 9 hole courses which will be drawn in separate sections.

Section One: winner section 1, 6, 7, 12, 13, 16 Section Two: winner section 2, 5, 8, 11, 14, 17 Section Three: winner section 3, 4, 9, 10, 15, 18

15 PENNANTS: Played Mid Week

Competition/Format  There are three divisions.  Each division can have up to 3 sections with up to 10 teams in each section.  Each club can have more than one team per division drawn in different sections.  Match play with application of handicap.  Playing order is 1 to 6 in handicap index order. Division 1 (formerly Silver Pennants):  Played in fours with concurrent singles and 4bbb  Team members within each four may give advice to their team members  NZG Handicap Indices up to 18.4 (also refer FHR below) Division 2 (formerly Bronze Pennants):  Played in fours with singles match play only  NZG Handicap Indices 18.5 index to 40.4 (also refer FHR below)  Division 3 (new in 2014):  Played in fours with concurrent singles and 4bbb  Team members within each four may give advice to their team members  NZG Handicap Indices up to 40.4 (no handicap restrictions)

Number of players in each team - 6

Floating Handicap Range (FHR) Indices 17.4 – 19.5 inclusive The FHR can be used by clubs unable to field a full team in either Division 1 and Division 2 Pennants due to a shortage of players within the required handicap ranges. ie: A Bronze player with a handicap index 18.5 to 19.5 inclusive may play in Division 1; a Silver player with a handicap index of 17.4 to 18.4 may play in Division 2.  Two FHR players per team maybe used per round  Players from within the FHR will play off the course handicap corresponding with that of their own index.  In addition a player on a handicap index of 19.6 or higher may play in the silver division but must play off a 19.5.  If a team continues to have insufficient players it should play a shortened team.

Winning team \ Finals Division 1:  The winning team is the team with the most points at the completion of play.  In the event of a tied result the winning team will be the winner of the match between the two teams concerned.  If that match was halved, a count back of singles matches will apply  If the count back still results in a tie, (to be decided and rules updated in March 2014). Division 2:  The winning team from each Section will compete in the Final.  In the event of a tied result in any Section the winning team will be the winner of the match between the two teams concerned.  If the count back still results in a tie, (to be decided and rules updated in March 2104).  The Finals should be played on a neutral course.

16  Team members competing in the Finals must be drawn from the players who have participated in Section Play.  The winning team in each Section will play off for the Winner & Runner-up Trophy  The two teams which are second in Section play will play off for 3rd & 4th places.  In the event of a team tie, a count back of holes won in the Final will apply.  If there is still a tie the trophies will be held jointly. Division 3:  The four teams with the most points will play off for a position in the final.  In the event of a tied result the winning team will be the winner of the match between the two teams concerned.  If that match was halved, a count back of singles matches will apply  If the count back still results in a tie, (to be decided and rules updated in March 2014).  Playoff 1: The team with the most points will play the 2nd scoring team  Playoff 2: The team with the 3rd most points will play the 4th scoring team  Semi-final: Runner-up playoff 1 plays winner playoff 2.  Final: Winner of playoff 1 plays winner of semi-final.  In the event of a tied result in the playoffs, semi-finals and finals a countback of singles matches will apply.  If the count back still results in a tie, (to be decided and rules updated in March 2014).  The format of the playoffs, semi-finals and finals will be concurrent singles and 4bbb over 18 holes.  Team members competing must be drawn from the players who have participated in Section Play.

Format

 Teams of 4 played off handicap in a match play format  The matches are to be played over 9 completed holes

Player Eligibility To be eligible players taking part must have a current NZGA 9 Hole Handicap Index. Maximum handicap is 27.2.

Players must be a Financial Playing Member of a Member Club. (Playing Member means any member, including Junior Members, with playing rights, but does not include Country Members (or similar) of that Club,)

Players may play for their home club where their Handicap Index is held or alternatively for any secondary club that they have full playing rights at.

The scoring system is 2 points for a hole won, 1 point for a hole halved, 0 points for a hole lost

CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS

Eligibility  Open to all current Silver and Bronze Champions of all Member Clubs in the Wellington District.  A Club Champion who has transferred to another club may still represent her previous club.  If the Club Champion is unavailable, the Runner-up may compete.  The players participate in the Division for which they won their Club Championship.

Current Club Champions  There must be at least two players competing in the relevant Club Championship before the winner is eligible to participate in the Champion of Champions tournament.  The Club Champions may have been determined from either stroke or match play championships.  Where a club offers two styles of Club Championship (stroke & match), it must determine prior to both these events, which Champion will participate in the Champion of Champions.

Handicap Changes  Any player whose handicap has changed between the time of the Club Championship and the Champion of Champion’s tournament will participate in the Division in which she won the Club Championship.  This applies even if her current handicap index would put her in another Division.

Recommendation for Draw  It is recommended that the Championship draws be seeded  Play should be in threes.  Tee arrangements to suit course

Club Team A Club Team comprises two members - The Club Silver and Bronze Champions; or - The leading Silver Division player and the leading Bronze Division players, if a club has only an Open Championship (either stroke play or match play) Should a player be a champion of more than one club she may play as a member of the team for each club.

Substitutes

- Silver & Bronze Stroke Play Championships: If a prescribed team member (as above) is unavailable the club may substitute the next available player who finishes closest to the winner of her Division.

- Silver & Bronze Match Play Championships:  If the Silver or Bronze Champion is unavailable, the runner up may be substituted  If the Silver or Bronze Runner-up is unavailable, a losing semi-finalist will be selected by lot.  If a further substitute is required the other losing semi-finalist will be eligible.

- Open Match or Stroke Play Championship: If a prescribed team member is unavailable, the Club may substitute the next available player who finished closest to the winner in her Division.

Competition Team Competition: The aggregate of the two team member’s individual 36 hole gross Stableford scores (ie without application of handicap).

Example of Stableford Points scoring for all players Par 5 hole: Any Player’s gross score: 4 = 3 points; 5 = 2 points; 6 = 1 point; 7 = 0 points The gross score of the winning team in each District is forwarded to NZG for determination of the National Winning Team.

Determining the Winners  Each club’s team score will be the aggregate of the two team member’s individual 36 hole gross Stableford scores.  Ties: A count back of the Teams Gross Stableford Aggregate (GSA) will apply to determine the winning team. The count back will be on the last 18, then last 9,6,3 or 1 hole.

23 NATIONAL CLUB TEAMS CHAMPIONSHIP - WELLINGTON DISTRICT FINAL

INFORMATION EXTRACTED FROM NZG CLUB MANUAL

Eligibility/Qualifying Clubs:  may hold qualifying rounds for the National Tournament - an individual net 18 hole event, between 1 March and 15 Aoril annually.  may hold more than one competition day to ensure all eligible players (indices up to 40.4) have the opportunity to participate (e.g. mid week & weekend.)  shall charge an Entry Fee part of which is paid to NZ Golf. Players who belong to more than one club may compete in the club competition at each of their clubs but may represent only one club at the District Final.

Club Teams  The four players returning the lowest net scores, and who will be available to play on the date of the District Tournament, will qualify for the Team to represent their club.  Ties shall be determined by count back  If a player who has qualified for the Club team is subsequently unable to play in the District Final, that player shall be replaced by the player with the next lowest net score in the club’s qualifying round. Any further replacements shall be in the order of the net scores in the qualifying competition  Clubs will enter their club teams by completing the Entry Form for the District Final and sending it, together with the original score cards of the four team members, to WGI

District Finals  Must be played between 20 April & 31 May  Must be played on a Course with a women’s NZG Course Rating of 70 or higher

District Final Competition  The format is a four ball better ball stroke play  The four players from each club are paired by their home club and drawn in different fours.  Players NZG Handicap Indices on the day of the District Final apply.  NZ Golf supplies a special card for recording the 4 ball scores on the day.  In addition to these special cards, players must keep and return individual score cards for the day.  The four ball net scores of the two pairs from each club team will be aggregated at the end of the round to determine the team’s score.  The winning team is the team with the lowest aggregate net score.  Ties will be decided by count back of the aggregated scores.

District Prizes  The First, Second & Third placed teams shall receive prizes

National Winners  WGI will record the details of the Winning District Team on the Form provided and return it, together with the original scorecards, to NZGolf by the date specified on the form  The net differential of the District Winners will be determined by comparing the

24 four ball net score to the women’s NZGA Course rating.  The team with the best net differential will be awarded the National Trophy.  In the event of a tie, a count back will apply.

WELLESLEY/PENCARROW HANDICAP MATCH PLAY TOURNAMENTS

Competition/Eligibility  Match Play on handicap over 9 holes  Each player will play 3 matches/rounds (27 holes) in one day  Open to any player with a NZG 18 hole handicap index

Format  Players will be seeded into groups of 8 in accordance with their NZG handicap indices.  Matches will be played in fours.  At the conclusion of the first match (9 holes) the players continue playing in the same four with the winners from each first 9 hole match (and the losers from each first nine match) playing off over the second nine.

Handicap application:  Only the shots applicable to the 9 being played are given. Eg If a player is giving 7 shots (over 18 holes) and four of the shot holes fall in the nine being played, those four shots are the only ones ‘given’.  If there is only a one shot difference and shot hole number 1 is not in the nine being played, no shot is given in that match.

Matches all square after 9 holes:  In the event of any match being all square after nine holes there will be a ‘3 hole putt off’ on the putting green.  The committee will determine the putting green ‘course’  The match winner being determined by the best of three putt-offs.

Results: Are to be handed into the Committee at the completion of each 9 hole match.

Lunch:  It is recommended that a lunch break be taken at the completion of the first Two nine hole matches (18 holes).

NZ GOLF EVENTS, MAY BE PLAYED CONCURRENTLY

Home Links events are played at club courses with District and National Winners being determined from individual club results – ie there is no play-off at District/National level.

The District winners of each Home Links Competition will receive a District Button

Eligibility Subject to any specific eligibility criteria for any individual event (see below) the Home Links Events are open to all women golfers holding an NZG 18 hole handicap index of up to and including 40.4 and who are Playing Members of a Member Club. A player who is a Playing Member of more than one club must nominate the Club at which they will compete in the Home Links events.

Timing/Dates of Play  All events are to be played on the home course of each affiliated club during the months of March, April and May  The dates of play for both weekday and weekend members are fixed by the club committee  All events, except the Nancy MacCormick Memorial Foursomes, are played concurrently

Entry Fees No entry fees may be charged for any Home Links event

Club Winners Each Club will determine the winner (and ties) for each event, complete the Club Home Links Result Sheet provided by NZG, and send it, together with the original score cards of the winners (and ties) to reach WGI by the date specified on the Results Sheet (normally in early June).

Scorecards submitted must: - Be original scorecards; - Show the event for which they are submitted; - Show the women’s NZG Course Rating and the NZG Slope Rating for the course played - Show the player’s Handicap Index and Course Handicap - Be signed by both the player and the marker - Be certified as correct by the Club

District Winners WGI will determine the District Winners and complete the District Home Links Result Sheet provided by NZG and send it, together with the original scorecards of the winners (and ties) to reach NZG no later than the date specified on the result sheets.

National Winners If a tie occurs at National Level, a further round will be played by the players involved in the tie, the date to be the first scheduled LGU Medal competition, or within one month after the player’s club receives notification that a play-off is necessary. Once established, this date cannot be altered. A player’s Handicap Index current on the play-off date will apply.

In the event of a further tie, the trophy will be awarded jointly

31 HOME LINKS COMPETITIONS

NANCY MCCORMICK FOURSOMES INCLUDING HOME LINKS FOURSOMES REFER ALSO NZ GOLF CLUB MANUAL

Conditions  The competition is a foursomes handicap stroke play, played over 36 holes on one day or two days within a two week period.  Players choose their own partners, and the pairs are then drawn at random to play together.  The partners teeing order may be changed for the second 18 holes  A pair’s net score for each 18 holes is determined by deducting half of their combined Course Handicaps. (Do not round up or down).

District Winners The winning pair will each receive a District Button.

Trophy Nancy MacCormick was appointed Secretary of the NZLGU in 1932 and remained in that office until her death in 1952. In 1953 silver salvers were purchased to commemorate her long years of service and so began the Home Links foursomes competition.

Conditions  Open to playing Members of Member Clubs under 19 years of age on 1 March of the current year holding NZG Handicap Indices not exceeding 40.4.  There are two 18 hole events - Junior Best Gross - Junior Best Net  Eligible scores must be returned while the player’s Handicap Index is 40.4 or lower, in rounds played in March, April and May in a club, or LGU Medal competition at the Playing Member’s Home Club.  The player’s date of birth must be recorded on the Home Links Results

NATIONAL 9 HOLE HOME LINKS COMPETITION

Conditions  Open to all women golfers holding a NZG 9 hole handicap index not exceeding 20.2 who are Playing Members of a Member Club.  The 9 Hole Home Links Competition will be played over 3 rounds on the home course of each Member Club with 9 Hole members during the months of March April and May. It is unnecessary to schedule one round in each of the three months but the dates of play must be fixed by the Committee Club Winner  The Club Winner is the person who returns the lowest aggregate of two net differentials.  A player does not need to return more than two scores.  The club will determine the winner and forward the results to WGI. HOME PENNANTS STABLEFORD

Conditions  Each Club stipulates one Home Pennants Stableford round each month from April to August.  Scores from both mid week and weekend players are eligible but a player may not compete in the Home Pennant in both sections of the Club.  The best six scores from each round are returned to WGI either on the form provided or in a similar format not later than seven days after the end of the month in which they were played.

34 Winners The Home Pennants Shield is presented to the Club which returns the highest aggregate of points from the four best of the five rounds played, to be presented at the Champion of Champions event. COUNTRY HOME PENNANTS

Conditions  Competed for by small clubs with fewer than 45 members.  The same rules as for the Home Pennants Stableford apply except that three scores are returned for each round.

Winner The Rototawai Shield is presented to the Club which returns the highest aggregate of points from the four best of the five rounds played, to be presented at the Champion of Champions event.

HOME LINKS ADULT AND JUNIOR FOURSOMES STABLEFORD

Eligibility  Open to any pair, an adult club member in partnership with a girl under the age of 19 years of age as at 1 January in the current year.  Junior players without an NZG handicap Index are to play on a course handicap determined by a handicap index no higher than 40.4. Format  A Canadian Foursome Stableford to be played as an extra day competition during school holidays. Players play off 40% of their combined course handicap rounded to the nearest whole number.  There is no limit to the number of rounds which may be returned by any partnership Trophies Are awarded for the best autumn score (April holidays) and the best spring score (September holidays)

GREATEST HANDICAP REDUCTION DURING CURRENT YEAR – THOMPSON TROPHY

Eligibility Open to players with a handicap index no greater than 40.4 on 1 February or who achieve that level subsequently.

Format  Qualifying period for handicap reduction: 1 February to 30 September.  Awarded annually – Clubs must submit the name of their entrant, together with starting and finishing handicap index details, to WGI on the form provided.

36 WAIRAPAPA COMPETITIONS

General Rules for Interclub are to be read in conjunction with these rules

TILSON SALVER

Conditions  Handicap Indices for this competition are up to 40.4.  The Tilson Salver shall be competed for annually by teams from Wairarapa clubs drawn from the weekend membership and students where possible.  The number of players in each team shall be six placed in handicap index order.  The competition is 18 hole match play on course handicap  There will be a drawn series of matches in which all competing clubs will play all other clubs.  The winning team shall hold the Tilson Salver for the year. In the event of a tie there shall be a playoff on a neutral course.

Trophy Mr and Mrs Tilson, Mahunga Club, presented the Tilson Salver, and an invitation to the presentation should be extended to Mr Tilson.

RIVERSDALE PLATE

Conditions  Awarded to the player gaining the most wins over the five rounds of the Tilson Salver Competition.  Results to be handed in on the final day, on forms provided at the commencement of the competition.  In the event of a tie, the trophy to be held jointly.  Matches won by default or disqualification will not be considered for this trophy.  Note: Players need not have played all rounds to be eligible. Extra games played in a tie of the Tilson Salver do not count.

Trophy The Riversdale Women’s Golf Club donated the Riversdale Plate and an invitation should be extended to the current women’s captain to present the trophy on the final day.

RIVERSIDE CUP

Conditions  Handicap Indices for this competition are up to 40.4  The Riverside Cup is an interclub competition played in a drawn series of matches between Clubs in the Wairarapa and the Ekatahuna Club.  The number of players in each team shall be six who shall be placed in handicap index order. All matches to be played on course handicap.  Wairarapa Golf shall prepare the draw.

37  If there is a tie following the final round, the Cup shall be held jointly.

38 COTTER ROSEBOWL

Conditions  Handicap indices for the Competition are up to 40.4  The Cotter Rosebowl shall be competed annually by Clubs in the Wairarapa area of WGI.  The competition shall be 18-hole Foursomes Stableford, not Canadian.  The Rosebowl shall be awarded to the team with the highest aggregate score.  The roster of host Clubs shall be Carterton; Featherston; Masterton; Castlepoint; Martinborough; Riversdale and Mahunga.  Each team shall consist of four foursome pairs, i.e. eight players. There is no restriction on handicap index combinations.  The competition shall be played in accordance with NZG foursomes regulations, scoring Stableford points on half of combined course handicaps.  All team members must be Playing Members of the Club they represent.  The teams will play in order of combined handicap indices.  Lists of teams with players’ handicap indices shall be sent to the host Club Secretary no later than one week before the day set down for play.  The host Club shall prepare the draw.  In the event of a tie the winning team shall be decided on count-back.

REW AND MCCRACKEN CUP

Conditions  Handicap indices for the Competition are up to 40.4  The Cup is to be competed for annually by teams of six players from Clubs in the Wairarapa area of WGI.  The rotation of host Clubs shall be Martinborough; Mahunga; Carterton; Riversdale; Castlepoint; Featherston and Masterton.  Team lists indicating players’ handicap indices shall be sent to the host Club Secretary no later than one week prior to the event.  The host Club shall make the draw.  In the event of a tie the winning team shall be decided on count-back.

39 INTER DISTRICT TOURNAMENTS

REPRESENTATIVE TEAMS

SYBIL GREEN SALVER

An inter-provincial round robin tournament to be played annually between teams representing Hawkes Bay/Poverty Bay; Manawatu/Wanganui/ Taranaki and Wellington Districts and held alternately in the Wanganui and Manawatu Districts.

Conditions  Matches are played under inter-provincial tournament conditions.  No play is permitted on the course on Saturday morning.  Lateness on the Tee: Rule 6(3) applies, however the Tournament Committee may waive disqualification in accordance with Rule 33(7).

Teams Consist of seven members and a non playing captain

Format  One round to be played on Saturday and two rounds on Sunday  Play will be in fours

Draw Teams to report 30 minutes before tee off when the draw will be made

Trophy Sybil Green Salver. Should the tournament be abandoned the trophy is to be retained by the Lady President of Wanganui Golf Club

TAUPO QUADRANGULAR TOURNAMENT

An annual tournament played between Bay of Plenty/Thames Valley; Waikato King Country; Taranaki and Wellington Districts

Conditions  Each player must be affiliated to the district they represent.  The use of motorised carts by players and/or caddies is not permitted

Teams  Shall be 8 players  The names of players in playing order shall be notified to the Bay of Plenty-Thames Valley Association no later than one week prior to the tournament.  All teams will be named in playing order, from 1 to 8 according to playing form – ie the best player at #1

An annual competition between teams of eight players selected from the Wairarapa and Wellington areas of Wellington District.

Competition 18 hole match play without application of handicap. Played on a course on the Kapiti Coast, Wellington or Wairarapa on a three year rotation basis the same weekend as the Wellington District 36 hole Strokeplay Championship.
