To Honor Top French Researchers As Citation Laureates

TO HONOR TOP FRENCH RESEARCHERS AS “CITATION LAUREATES”

French Senator Monsieur René Trégouet to address honorees

PARIS, FRANCE, May 3 – Thomson Scientific and the Institute for Scientific and Technical Information (INIST: Institut de l’Information Scientifique et Technique) will recognize the top 15 scientific researchers in France whose work is the most frequently cited by their peers. The researchers will receive the coveted award of “Citation Laureate” on June 8 during I-EXPO at a ceremony from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Le Meridien Etoile, Paris. Senator Trégouet will address the group and then present the Citation Laureate awards to each individual for having received the highest number of citations for research in a scientific category.

Monsieur Raymond Duval, director, INIST-CNRS, said, “We are pleased to collaborate with Thomson ISI in presenting these awards. The work of the individuals we honor has been recognized by other researchers around the world. The impact of their research on the scientific community is a measure of the quality of their work.”

The Thomson Scientific Citation Laureates rank among the top one-tenth of one percent of researchers in their field, based on citation counts to their published papers over the last two decades. They also have written influential papers in specific fields of the sciences. Their influence is based on the number of times other researchers have cited their works.
