STUDY TOUR: The Land of Israel at the University of Haifa Three (3) academic credits (Humanities Travel 2700) for Broward College students

The Study Tour Course: This study tour is an academic course that combines classroom seminars and on-site lectures at the most important historical sites in the State of Israel. The course begins in the north of Israel and will continue south visiting Masada and the Negev Desert.

At the visit in Jerusalem, the complex interplay of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam in the region will be a major focus for study and discussion.

The Course Requirements: Students will be required to write a term-paper and keep a journal in order to receive a final grade.

The University of Haifa Region: Immerse yourself in Israeli culture, academics, the beautiful Mediterranean Sea, the beautiful coastal city of Haifa, and the University of Haifa campus surrounded by Israel’s largest forest.

Eligibility: The Study Tour is open to all current undergraduate students who are at least 18 years of age. Applicants must meet the admission and matriculation standards of the University of Haifa including GPA requirements (3.0). The University of Haifa will run the Study Tour provided the University has a minimum of 25 participants.

Date: 29 August 2010 - 21 September 2010. Expect to depart the USA at least a day or two before the program begins and expect to leave Israel the day after the program ends.

Costs: -Tuition and Fees: $1900.00 plus fees of at least $240.00 -Application Fee: $80.00 (non-refundable) -Housing: $400 (single) or $280 (double) -Cell-phone rental from the company Talk ‘n’ Save (required by the University for safety and security purposes): TBA -Additional costs: +plane fare (all students participating through Broward College will be required to take a group flight to and from Israel due to safety and security.): at least $1350. +transportation in Israel: Shared ride (called sherut) between Ben-Gurion International Airport and the dormitories of the University of Haifa--at least $15. +meals: this cost will vary according to participant preferences. Kosher cafeteria and snack bars are located on campus as well as grocery stores.

-Note: The costs for any overnight field-trips that are part of the course are included in the cost of tuition.
