AND MRS. CECIL WAYNE 12 RORIE OF CHESTERFIELD COUNTY ON THE OCCASION 13 OF THEIR GOLDEN WEDDING ANNIVERSARY AND TO 14 EXTEND BEST WISHES TO THEM FOR MANY MORE 15 YEARS OF BLESSINGS AND FULFILLMENT. 16 17 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of 18 Representatives are pleased to learn that Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Rorie 19 will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary on January 29, 20 2016, at a golden anniversary reception to be held in their honor on 21 January 31, 2016, at Jefferson First Baptist Church; and 22 23 Whereas, born to Pearl and Preston Rorie in Monroe, North 24 Carolina, Cecil Rorie graduated from Forest Hills High School. 25 Martha Ann Oliver was born in Kannapolis, North Carolina, the 26 daughter of Blanche and David Oliver, and graduated from 27 Pageland High School; and 28 29 Whereas, in 1966, when camellias send their colorful blooms 30 abroad, Cecil and Martha pledged to one another a lifetime of love 31 and sharing as they were joined in holy matrimony in Pageland on 32 January 29; and 33 34 Whereas, together they owned and operated Rorie Hardware and 35 Well Drilling Company, and since 1982, Mr. Rorie has served as a 36 South Carolina State Constable, the only constable in Chesterfield 37 County; and 38 39 Whereas, Mr. and Mrs. Rorie live in Jefferson and have served 40 their community on the Jefferson Rescue Squad, he since 1979 and 41 she since 1981, totaling more than seventy years; and 42

[4698] 2 1 Whereas, members of Long Branch Baptist Church in Jefferson, 2 they reared a fine son, Doug Rorie, who with his wife, Susan, 3 blessed them with two treasured grandchildren, Thomas and 4 David; and 5 6 Whereas, no success on earth crowns a life as does a marriage that 7 endures the test of time and grows stronger and deeper with each 8 passing year; and 9 10 Whereas, Cecil Rorie has learned the veracity of the proverb, 11 “Whoso finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favor of the 12 Lord,” and he now considers one of his crowning achievements 13 having the good sense to marry his beloved Martha; and 14 15 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of 16 Representatives join with the family and friends of Martha and 17 Cecil Rorie to honor their half century of married life together. 18 Now, therefore, 19 20 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 21 22 That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, 23 by this resolution, congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Wayne Rorie of 24 Chesterfield County on the occasion of their golden wedding 25 anniversary and extend best wishes to them for many more years 26 of blessing and fulfillment. 27 28 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to 29 Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Wayne Rorie. 30 XX 31
