Fall 2007: Missouri Arts Council: Submitted grant to the Missouri Arts Council for $1000 to help fund the Departmental Foreign Film Festival. Fall 1999-Spring 2000: In the fall of 1999 I applied for two CAT grants for an LCD projector, two computers and internet hook-up for the three classrooms the Department uses in the Martin Building. The proposal received partial funding in the Spring of 2000 and the Department received internet hook-up in each of the three classrooms, a mobile LCD projector and an iMac computer. Spring 1999 & Spring 2000: Dr. Renee Betz and I submitted a proposal for a Minority Scholar Grant to bring a speaker from Guatemala, Adriana Portillo-Bartow, who does presentations on human rights in Latin America. The proposal was accepted in the spring of 2000 and Ms. Portillo-Bartow will be on campus February 13 & 14 2001 to present a public lecture and speak to classes. Fall 1998: I wrote and received a Greer-Oppenheimer grant to bring Dr. Lorraine Bayard de Volo from the University of Kansas to CMSU. Dr. Bayard de Volo is a professor of political science and women's studies whose research interest is mother's and women's political groups in Latin America. She came to campus, spoke to three classes, and gave a public lecture in the spring of 1999. Spring 1998: I worked with Spanish Club, Women's Scholars at Central, the History Club and the library to secure funding from Campus Activities for the purchase of a video series entitled Women of Latin America. The series contains 13 videos on different countries and issues in Latin America. Funding was also requested for refreshments and publicity to show four of the videos as part of Women's History Month. Students from all different levels of Spanish and other disciplines attended the showings. Videos were shown on the following topics: Motherhood in Latin America, Women in Ecuador, Women in Guatemala, and Women in Perú. Spring 1997: I worked with several other members of the Department to write three separate technology grants from the university to request funding for upgraded computers, enhanced

C7 | CV 2008 Julie Stephens de Jonge language lab facilities, and access to SCOLA (satellite TV that would allow students to view international programs). Spring 1997: I submitted a grant proposal to the Extended Campus Office for an entrepreneurial course I planned to teach in the summer of 1997 entitled, Intensive Spanish. I requested $1100 to develop the class so that I could purchase and utilize the video program, Destinos. Destinos is a video program with 52 episodes that presents a family saga and mystery that takes place in a variety of Spanish-speaking countries. The video is designed to present language in context and to develop beginning and intermediate language skills. The grant request to Extended Campus was not funded. I then requested the funding from a library fund for teaching resources and the library purchased the video series. They were given permission to make one copy of the program and we keep that in copy for use in the Department of Modern Languages. I taught Intensive Spanish in the summer of 1997.
