WASECA PUBLIC SCHOOLS WASECA, MINNESOTA

The School Board of Independent School District No. 829 held a regular meeting on Thursday, October 2, 2008 at 5:03 p.m. in the Central Intermediate School Auditorium. Board members present: Jorge Diaz, Mike Gehloff, Robert Whitney, Joe Hoehn and Gary Conrath. School board members absent: Christine Baidoo and SkiAnn Christiansen. Also in attendance: John Rokke, Superintendent of Schools and Elizabeth Beery, Director of Business Services.

1. Hoehn moved, Gehloff seconded a motion to approve the minutes of the regular meeting of September 18, 2008. Unanimous.

2. Conrath moved, Diaz seconded a motion to approve the agenda with additions as presented. Unanimous.

3. The following committee reports were given: Personnel Meeting-Jorge Diaz; Referendum Committee-John Rokke.

4. Bill Bunkers presented a Jr. High School report to the school board.

5. Jeanne Swanson presented a report on the High School Service Day.

6. John Rokke presented the superintendent’s report to the school board.

7. Gehloff moved, Conrath seconded a motion to approve the following: Community Education Transportation Handbook, Dancer’s Guidebook 2008-2009, Recreation Employee Handbook, School Age Care/Camp Cool Parent Handbook, Adult Basic Education Program Student Handbook, ECFE Parent Handbook, Rainbow Connection & KOP Parent Handbook, SAC Pay Scale for FY09, Recreation Pay Scale, Waseca Gymnastics Staff 2008-2009 non-union staff members payroll schedule. Unanimous.

8. Hoehn moved, Diaz seconded a motion to approve the teaching staff lane changes for 2008-2009 as presented. Unanimous.

9. Gehloff moved, Conrath seconded a motion to approve the Assurance of Compliance with State and Federal Law Prohibiting Discrimination form. Unanimous.

10. Whitney moved, Hoehn seconded a motion to approve the following gifts/donations: Donation of $75.60 from Dean Foods “Take Five” to Waseca Central Intermediate School; Donation of $75.35 from Kemps Nickels for Schools to Waseca Central Intermediate School; Donation of $59.90 from KWIK Trip “Milk Moola” to Waseca Central Intermediate School; Donation of $108.63 from Target “Take Charge of Education” to Waseca Central Intermediate School; Donation of $125.00 from SROL Open House to Lisa Hoefs. Total Gifts/Donations: $444.48. Unanimous.

11. Hoehn moved, Gehloff seconded a motion to approve the following certified staff contracts: Kristi Hyink-Huttemier, Mental Health Psychologist; Laura Kennedy, ALC Global Studies Night School Instructor; Laura Kennedy, ALC Basic Comp Night School Instructor; Daryl Kehler, ALC Global Studies Night School Instructor; Sarah Volkmann, ALC Basic Comp Night School Instructor. Unanimous.

12. Conrath moved, Hoehn seconded a motion to approve the following noncertified staff contract: Janet Kummerfeldt, CIS Day Treatment Paraprofessional. Unanimous.

13. Gehloff moved, Diaz seconded a motion to approve the following extracurricular contracts: Jeanne Swanson, Jr. Class Head Advisor; Jeanne Swanson, Student Council High School; Anthony Miller, JH Boys Tennis Coach; Stacy Gramentz, Girls Assistant Hockey Coach; Clint Link, Girls Head Basketball Coach; Andy Krause, Wrestling Assistant Coach. Unanimous.

14. Hoehn moved, Gehloff seconded a motion to approve the following other contracts: Agreements with Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton Public School District #2835 for Special Education Administration, Physical Health Disabilities Consultant, Occupational Therapist (OT), School Psychologist; Agreement with New Richland- Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva School District #2168 for Hearing Impaired Service; Student Tuition Agreement with Independent School District #4151, EdVisions Off- Campus High School. Unanimous.

15. Diaz moved, Gehloff seconded a motion to approve the following resignations: Amanda Knode, High School and Jr. High School Head Speech Coach; Nichole Fett, CIS Paraprofessional. Unanimous.

16. Hoehn moved, Conrath seconded a motion to adjourn the meeting at 5:42 p.m. Unanimous.
