Third Grade November/December Book Report

Third Grade November/December Book Report: Read Two Books by the Same Author

1. Read two books by the same author (books that we have read in class do not count).

2. Your written report will be in the form of a letter to the author of the books you read.

3. You must use the friendly letter format we learned in class – the one we used for our pen pal letters (you may look it up on-line, if you have forgotten what it is).

4. Your letter should:

 Introduce yourself and tell the titles of the books you read;  Write a paragraph retelling your favorite part of one or both stories (“I especially liked the part in ______when…”);  Write a paragraph comparing how the two stories are alike and different (characters, plot, setting, etc.);  Write a paragraph giving suggestions to the author for a prequel or sequel to one of the books;  Ask any questions you have about the author or the books;  Thank the author;  Follow the friendly letter format.

5. This book report is due January 3rd, 2018. You have two months in which to complete it. You may turn it in before you leave for Christmas break on December 20th. I don’t recommend that you wait until the last minute to read the books and write the letter. Use your time wisely. Good luck! Name: ______Date: ______
