2017 Chatter Cup – Zero Tolerance In an effort to make this tournament a more desirable and rewarding experience for all participants, the tournament director will institute the USA Hockey ‘Zero Tolerance” policy. The tournament director has instructed the on ice officials and team captains to adhere to certain points of emphasis relating to sportsmanship. This policy is designed to require all players, coaches, officials, and spectators to maintain a sportsmanlike and appropriate atmosphere before, during and after all tournament games and events.
Remember why where are here!!!! To raise money for a good cause, have some fun, and enjoy the game of hockey!!!
Thus, the following points of emphasis will be implemented by all on-ice referees, tournament directors, and team captains:
Players
A minor penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct (Zero Tolerance) shall be assessed whenever a player:
1) Openly disputes or argues any decision by an official.
2) Uses obscene or vulgar language at any time, including any swearing, even if it is not directed at a particular person.
3) Visually demonstrates any sign of dissatisfaction with an official's decision.
This is a one strike rule. First time – minor penalty. After that, any time that a player persists in any of these actions, they shall be assessed a game misconduct penalty and asked to leave the ice. Any player that receives a game misconduct penalty will be disallowed from participating for the remainder of the tournament.
Any fighting, altercations, or game misconducts determined by a referee will lead to automatic dismissal from the remainder of the tournament. Tournament Director has discretion to assess disqualification of entire team. Coaches

2) Uses obscene or vulgar language in a boisterous manner to anyone at any time.
3) Visually displays any signs of dissatisfaction with an official's decision including standing on the boards or standing in the bench doorway with the intent of inciting the officials, players, or spectators.

After that, any time that a coach/captain persists in any of these actions, they shall be assessed a game misconduct penalty and asked to leave the ice. Any player that receives a game misconduct penalty will be disallowed from participating for the remainder of the tournament.
Teams/Spectators -
All tournament participants, i.e. players and fans, will be required to conduct themselves in an appropriate and positive manner. Any aggressive behavior towards officials, tournament directors and/or other players/spectators will be grounds for immediate removal from the arena. There will be a “Zero Tolerance” policy in effect. The tournament director reserves the right to apply this policy to an individual or a team as a whole, with forfeiture of entrance fee included.
No alcoholic beverages will be permitted on the arena property.
Any disputes or issues should be raised immediately with the tournament director.
