It is with great pleasure to announce, that the 2013 G Data Durham Senior Amateur Golf Championship, sponsored by G Data Software, will be held at Croasdaile Country Club in Durham. One of the top ranked courses in North Carolina. This championship layout was completely renovated in 2002 by renowned architect John LaFoy. It has hosted the Duke Children’s Classic, US Pro Sports Tour, US Mid Am Qualifying, and the North Carolina Amateur. We have also been notified by the Carolina Golf Association, that the GData Durham Senior Amateur is now a Certified Senior Ranked Points Event, with a 3 multiplier! What great news as we go forward building the tournament to be one of the premier senior championships in the USA.
The Durham Senior Amateur has grown in just 3 years, to one of the largest Senior Amateur Golf Championships in the USA. The purse in 2012 was $12,000 and we look for that attainment again this coming year. We had a full field of 144 players and had 96 gold sponsors as well as our Corporate Sponsor, G Data Software who has again agreed to partner with our tournament for 2013. With their involvement, the Durham Senior Amateur will continue to grow.
We will tee off with a morning wave and afternoon wave, play in threesomes and tee off, using both sides, to enhance the time of play. We will bring in “Certified Rules Officials” (some different from last year), to be around the course to monitor time of play and rules. There will be a handicap index restriction for the Seniors and for the Super Seniors of 14.0
The host hotels are the Hilton Durham, Hillsborough Road, 919-309-1302, located just around the corner from the entrance to the club, and a “POG” (personalized on-line group) website has been built on the Hilton.com site for an easy and convenient way for you g to make reservations. Please make your guests aware that the cut-off date for making reservations at the discounted group rate will be Friday, April 19 th , 2013. and The Marriott Courtyard, 919-309-1500, located at the corner of Hillandale Road and Front Street, near the 6th green and 7th tee. Make sure you state that you are with the GData Durham Senior Amateur Golf Championship. The rate for both hotels is $95 per night.
