The Constitution of

Thompson High School Game Club

Preamble:

We, those who choose to aim high and believe it is always a great day to be a warrior, do hereby institute and proclaim this constitution as the founding document of our esteemed and noble endeavor – The pursuit of galactic conquest, increased enlightenment, and inner peace. Be it known from this day hence forth that the Thompson High School Game Club is established for the good of all those that shall enter it’s realm.

Article I. Name

The name of the organization will here and henceforth forevermore be know as The Thompson High School Game Club, hereafter referred to as THSCG.

Article II. Purpose of the Organization

Section 1. The purpose of this club is to provide THS students with opportunities to develop learning, organizing, strategy formulation, and socializing skills in a friendly game playing environment.

Section 2. The THSCG will provide gaming opportunities in multiple formats (table top, card, board, miniatures, and others) at all levels (introductory, beginner, intermediate, and advanced).

Article III. Membership

Section 1. All members of the THSGC must be currently enrolled as students at Thompson High School.

Section 2. All faculty members of Thompson High School are invited to participate in THSGC activities.

Section 3. Membership may be revoked for an infraction(s) of club rules or by a 75% vote of active members for conduct not conducive to the promotion of the club’s purpose as outlined in Article II. See Article V for specific infractions and improper conduct explanations.

Section 4. No fees are required for membership. However, donations and participation in fund raising (if necessary) are highly encouraged. If funds are collected, it will be the duty of the Club President and Treasurer to maintain accountability for all funds. Purchases of equipment, games, supplies, and other items shall require approval of a majority of Club Staff Members (see Article IV for list of Staff offices).

Article IV. Officers

Section 1. All members of the Club staff will be voted on by the membership and must receive a majority of votes for that office.

Section 2. All staff members must be members of the THSCG and be in good standing.

Section 3. Elections for officers will be held at the beginning of each school year, upon resignation or removal of a club officer, or whenever a staff position becomes vacant.

Section 4. The THSGC officers will consist of the following positions:

President – will preside at all meetings.

Vice President – responsible for recruitment of new members and preside at meetings when the President is not available.

Treasurer – keep track of all income, expenditures, and debts of the THSCG if any.

Secretary – take minutes of club meetings and record happenings at club events.

Official Artist – responsible for organization, building, maintaining all wargaming terrain and other gaming needs as required by the THSCG.

Historian – maintain and update the THSCG website.

Section 6. Club leadership meetings will be held once a month at a minimum. Special or additional meetings may be required to support club activities.

Article IV. Official Activities

Section 1. Gaming events will be held after school at least once a month. Additional gaming events may be scheduled as necessary or desired.

Section 2. Weekend events held on Friday nights or Saturday may be scheduled as interest dictates.

Article IV. Committees

Section 1. Various committees may be established by the THSGC leadership to meet the club operational needs and the desires or interests of members. Section 2. Committees must seek approval of the THSGC leadership before scheduling any events outside of regular meetings and before committing the club to an expenditure of funds.

Articles V. Discipline Policy

Section 1. The THSGC will not tolerate any discrimination against anyone based on gender, race, religion, national or planetary origin, looks, background, age, sexual preference, financial situation, or otherwise.

Section 2. Bullying or hazing of any type, i.e. physical, verbal, or emotional will not be tolerated.

Section 3. Cheating will not be tolerated in any form whatsoever.

Section 4. Fair play and good sportsmanship must be displayed at all times.

Section 5. Bad conduct, offensive language, and acts of an inappropriate nature will not be tolerated.

Section 6. Members found in violation of any of the club rules or deemed a negative influence on the club will be subject to having their membership revoked. See Article III, Section 3.
