3. Motion on Notice: Nil 4. Term 3 Sport Evaluations - Sports Reports Athletics (Coast 23/8/13, West 27/8/13, Selection Trials 2/9/13, MacKillop 17/9/13) i. Coast – South Coast had 60 to 80k winds, John thanked everyone for their participation ii. West Region carnival – day went well, only minor issues, getting officials is always an issue but schools must provide them otherwise there will be significant cost increases to supply external officials. iii. Selection Trials – went well – only had a base crew, university students and students from Holy Spirit College assisted. A few students that competed and made it to the next level but never intending competing at MacKillop which caused much related chase up in terms of finding replacements, adjusting submitted team etc. Students need to indicate up front if they are not available or not compete at selection trials.
Discussion: John spoke about students being entered as an independents and whether or not they should earn personal points toward the age champion trophy. Presently this is NOT the case. Some students would have been age champions if their independent points were added to regular events. This item will be added as a motion for term 1 meeting. (To have all independent competitor age champions points as separate and not added onto an athletes mainstream age champion points)
Football Gala Days (West 2/8/13, Coast 5/9/13 – North Junior, South Junior, North Senior & South Senior) Great days, over 1000 students attended. Again, parents need to be reminded that this is a gala day and not the world cup – It is for enjoyment only! Unanderra – Chris P spoke about the day and said the venue is limited to space, schools arrived very late which affected the draw and some schools left without letting anyone know, please let convenor know if you are intending to leave early or if there is an issue with the draw. Peter B advised that the day was spectacular and ran very smoothly, great support from the football club and First Aid – Mick N advised that the day went well and thanks to everyone. Secondary referees - having the one contact to organise the student referees works well, can the section for the referee be taken off the nomination form so there is no confusion – modify to say if you have a referee please supply their name or tick a box Secondary students are to be supervised by convener, checked on and off for role commitments and the role returned to relevant schools. Secondary schools will be reminded to send appropriate students to these days. 6. Term 4 Sporting Events I. NSW PSSA Athletics (16 October – 17 October) II. 2014 Boys Cricket Trials (17 October) III.
