Announcing Our 12th Annual PASTA FOR PENNIES Campaign

What is Pasta for Pennies?

This is a nationwide school fundraiser to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma ciety. All money raised goes to support research for a cure for leukemia and related blood cancers, and to help the patient-aid program improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

***How is the money collected? *** NEW THIS YEAR - PLEASE READ THIS:

Each classroom has a collection box. In order to be In compliance with District policy, ALL MONEY WILL BE COLLECTED DIRECTLY FROM YOUR CLASSROOM EACH DAY – DO NOT SEND MONEY TO THE FRONT OFFICE. Students may contribute pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, paper money and even checks (payable to the “Leukemia & Lymphoma Society”). Again this year, students in grades K & 1 will receive a small box for them to bring their money to school. These boxes will be emptied and returned to your classroom each day.

What if my class does not contribute very much?

This is a school-wide effort; we do not count how much each class contributes. By working together, our students have a chance to learn how even a few pennies can add up and make a difference in the lives of others. Over the past 11 years, our school has raised more than $17,000 for this worthwhile cause!

How will the fundraiser be advertised?

Our Student Council representatives will bring a poster to each classroom and explain the program. We will also remind students about the fundraiser in the morning announcements and parents can read about it in our electronic newsletter.

And to wrap it up:

During the week of 2/23, our Student Council representatives will announce the total amount of money raised this year during our morning “Hawks On Air”. At that time, we will also hold a random drawing and select which class will win a spaghetti lunch courtesy of the Olive Garden Restaurants (one of Pasta for Pennies nationwide sponsors). The lunch will be scheduled at a convenient time for the winning classroom in April or May. Good luck everyone!
