BENEFITS MANAGER – Sylvania Ohio

Directions Credit Union is a community-based financial organization with locations throughout the state of Ohio. We are looking for an energetic, friendly team member who will handle the Benefits for our organization and provide our employees with a superior level of service. This position will be based in Sylvania Ohio and may require infrequent travel to all branches in Ohio.

The Benefits Manager is responsible for:  Administering and coordinating employee benefit programs including health and accident, dental, optical, life, long term disability insurance, COBRA, HIPPA, HSA/Flexible Spending Accounts, and Family Medical Leave.  Negotiates benefit enrollment processes, makes suggestions to Sr. Management and coordinates benefit meetings with insurance companies.  Researches and resolve employee questions and problems. Maintains related medical records and files for payroll.  Processes Workers’ Compensation claims.  Knows department policies and procedures intimately. Works to improve department processes so the department runs smoothly.  Provides employees and vendors with superior service.  Executes business plans for the department effectively.  Establishes procedures that enhance the HR Departments contribution to credit union effectiveness, efficiency and internal member service.  Collaborates with HR team to improve processes and procedures.  Develops team members to maximize their performance in current positions as well as to prepare them for the possibility of greater responsibility.  Keeps the VP of Org Development fully informed of important issues and department progress toward established goals.  Performs miscellaneous Organizational Development functions. Assists Organizational Development Department staff as required.

Qualifications:  Bachelors Degree in Human Resources, or equivalent field experience.  At least three to five years of previous experience in Benefits or Medical Billing.  PHR, CEBS or CMBS certification strongly preferred.  Thorough knowledge of benefit programs and requirements.  Thorough knowledge of federal, state and local laws and regulations.  Understanding of Human Resource reporting and recordkeeping requirements and procedures.  Understanding of job functions and operations at all levels of the credit union.
