Pennsylvania League for Nurses

Area II

I have had the privilege of attending two professional conferences at which Dr. Kathleen Pagana presented. The first conference was at the Mosby Faculty Development conference in San Francisco, and Dr. Pagana presented several topics at the conference. The second program was sponsored by the Pennsylvania League for Nurses (PLN) Area II held in Allentown, PA on April 6, 2009 in which Dr. Pagana presented a dynamic conference entitled Developing Powerful Presentation Skills. At both conferences her presentations were well-attended; in fact, the conference sponsored by the PLN had the highest number of attendees on record for any presentation. The feedback from the PLN conference provided on the evaluation forms was extremely positive. On a scale of 1 – 5, Dr. Pagana received a rating in every category of 4.7 – 4.9. Attendees indicated that she demonstrated expertise in the subject matter (4.8), she effectively presented her ideas in an understandable manner (4.9), and the teaching strategies were appropriate for the audience (4.7). Additional comments included the following: “Excellent”, “Many tips to implement now”, “Quite helpful, very informative, and well-presented”, and “The speaker was great, very nice and welcoming and great presentation.” I found Dr. Pagana to be very pleasant, accommodating, and self-directed as I organized the conference. She provided program objectives that were appropriate for this conference, and kept in touch regularly with me to determine the needs of the PLN for the program. It was a pleasure to work with Dr. Pagana, and the PLN would be very willing to have her do another presentation at one of our programs. Dr. Pagana is very courteous, professional, and knowledgeable, and she is an effective speaker. She keeps the audience engaged, presents information clearly, and starts and ends on time. She is an asset to the nursing profession and I feel privileged to have heard her presentations and meet her personally.

Sincerely,
