Side Stream Cooling Tower Self Cleaning Disc Filter System Specifications Fully automatic, self cleaning Disc Filter System shall be rated for flowrate of up to XXX gpm using 55-micron grooved polymer discs. Filtered solids shall be automatically flushed during backwash cycle to a drain manifold. Backwash cycle to be automatically initiated based on differential pressure or timer. EQUIPMENT: Disc Filter system to be Spin Klin model TC-XXXXXXX The Disc filter system shall consist of a battery of 5, 2” filter housing in parallel with 4” polypropylene inlet/outlet manifolds, disc set, automatic backwash control valves for each filter housing using filtered system water for valve actuation, and automatic backwash master valve. Disc Filter operation shall be controlled by a programmable filter controller. 1. Disc Filter Components and Housing a. Filter housing shall be injection molded glass reinforced thermoplastic construction. The disc filter system shall be rated for 145 psig maximum operating pressure. Filter housings shall have 2” diameter inlet and outlet connections, and drain connection. b. Each filter housing shall accommodate one disc/spine assembly. The discs shall be contained on a spine assembly utilizing a stainless steel spring to compress the discs during filtration mode. The discs shall be constructed of polypropylene and shall have 55-micron grooves on both sides. The grooves on each disc shall oppose the grooves on adjacent discs. The opposing grooves shall create a series of intersections to trap suspended particulate. To ensure complete cleaning of the filter disc elements, overall height of the stacked filtration discs shall not exceed 9.25 inches. Total backwash water volume shall not exceed 17 gallons per filter housing. 2. Manifolds: a.Inlet and outlet manifolds shall be 4” diameter polypropylene. b. Drain manifold shall be 4” diameter polypropylene. 3. Valves a.Valves shall be hydraulically actuated diaphragm type with polymeric body and reinforced rubber diaphragm. b. Master Valve to be cast iron body with manually adjustable open position. 4. Control Panel a.The control panel assembly shall be UL listed. b. All electrical components shall be housed in a lockable NEMA 4X enclosure. A lockable main disconnect switch shall be mounted on the enclosure door. c.The control panel shall include a differential pressure switch to initiate a self-cleaning cycle. Step-down transformer for control voltage; fused pump thermal overload protection with pump/motor starter, overload protection, indicator lights, backwash push button, DP & Time selector switch, main disconnect. d. Panel and pump motor shall be factory pre-wired for single point connection to power source. 5. Pump/Motor : System matched cast iron body with bronze trim ,TEFC close-coupled; 460/3/60
