Hall-Woodward Elementary SIT Minutes – 11/08/13
Attendance Terrell (chair) Buchanan Evans Blankenship Smith Malloy (co-chair) Heckstall Turner Rendon Gant Wolfe Reid
Terrell called the meeting to order. Then welcomed those in attendance and reminded to remember the working agreement.
Faculty Affairs Departments shared input about “paying to play”. Majority consensus was “pay to play”, so Faculty Affairs benefits will only go to paying members. All staff will still receive cards. Dues are $20 and can be paid to your department rep, Jennifer Miller, or Catherine Gant.
Data SIT is considering adding a writing goal to the SIT plan in order to help increase data and to be able to target writing school wide. This will be discussed further later.
Side note: Our hard work is paying off and we are moving in the right direction. KEEP IT UP!!!
Bullying Plan Blankenship/L. Miller are thinking of doing a Kindness Week.
Ideas/Suggestions for School Wide to put in Bully Plan: Slogan/Slogan Contest, Bullying Reporting Box, Bully Reports at Hall-Woodward Online(Gant tested the form: reports get emailed to Tribby), Add something quick to Morning announcements, play videos of previous Bully Plays, Peer Helping Programs.
Mentoring Programs start this month. Continue to check in with I-Care Buddies.
This could be added as a part of efficacy SIT goal for next year.
Fall Festival Positives: fun booths, costume contest, more parents involved both before and at festival, Thanks to Buchanan for heading up, Thanks to Smith for face paint
Negatives: cost (some thought it was expensive), timing for photo booth
Overall, it was great!!! We are considering making the Field Day committee an Events committee for next year and they would work on Fall Festival and Field Day to alleviate the work falling on one person. Totals: Door: $1539 Haunted House: $509 Academic Committee: $90 Concessions: $456.55 Overall Total: $2594.55 (approx. $380 will be deducted from the door for prizes)
Proceeds from door will be decided on at a later date.
Shout-outs and Concerns Thanks to 5th grade for helping Buchanan get Fall Festival ready.
Thanks to Burner for Science Night.
Thanks to Webb for playing guitar for K at Science Night.
1st-Dropbox Concern: Evans took care of
3rd- Can we get the agenda on Fridays? Reponses: It is hard to get out because things aren’t always turned in on time. Try to get your events turned in on time so the agenda can get out on time.
Sick kids being sent back to class for teachers to call home. Response: Evans will check on it.
Could Second and Third get an increase in library books because students can’t go to the library to trade them like other grades because of safety? Response: Teachers can check out extra books for the classroom under the teacher’s name.
ESL: Copies/Paper Allotment: Response: Copies are reset to 2500 each quarter. However, we are over last year’s paper usage by a lot for this time of year. Use technology when possible and be sure to pick up copies/printed materials.
