2015 Virginia Bred Show Program Rules and Divisions

1) Horses must be nominated ($10 fee per horse per division) and certified as a foaled-in-Virginia Appaloosa. This is open to registered Appaloosas of all ages! Horses do not have to be bred in Virginia – only foaled in Virginia. 2) VaApHC rules and the point distribution system governing open shows and regional Appaloosa shows apply to the VA Bred Show Program. The ApHC Rulebook will determine the guidelines and rules to be followed at the Regional Appaloosa Horse Shows. 3) At time of entry, the owner must present certification of the horse’s Virginia born eligibility by submitting the ApHC Registration Certificate and the completed and signed nomination form and $10 fee per division plus a membership application if not already a member(s). If submitted by mail, this information must be submitted to the Pointkeeper five days prior to any points being counted for the VaApHC Virginia Bred Show Programs. If submitted to the Pointkeeper or VaApHC officer in person before the event, adequate time must be give to verify the horse’s eligibility before any points can be earned. 4) Both the owner (all owners) and the exhibitor of the nominated horse must be current paid members of VaApHC. 5) Points earned before certification by VaApHC of the nomination to the Open or Regional Show Programs will not be counted towards year end awards. 6) Divisions in the VaApHC Virginia Bred Show Program are attached. Reporting of points earned will follow the same rules for the VaApHC Open and Regional Points Programs. The Youth division is for exhibitors 18 and under. All other divisions are for exhibitors over 18. A computer generated show report is preferred. For the Open Sport Horse Division, please see the VaApHC page on merit tabulations for Dressage and Combined Training and Combined Driving. Points earned at a VaApHC sponsored show will count as double for Year End Awards. 7) 2015 competition awards for each division will be distributed by the Virginia Horse Industry Board in early 2015. Awards distribution will be determined by the Show Committee, based on the amount of funds granted by the Virginia Horse Industry Board. There will be a Champion, Reserve Champion and other placings may be possible depending on funding for each division. Funds designated for the Show Program will be divided equally between the Open and Regional divisions as indicated on the attached sheet. There will be a separate VA Bred award for the VaApHC sponsored Judged Trail Ride. VA Bred awards will be presented to participants at the same time as regular year end awards at the VaApHC's Annual Meeting in January 2015. Funds designated for the VA Bred Program award for the VaApHC Judged Trail Ride will be distributed to the VA Bred Champion and Reserve Champion at the trail ride in 2015. If VaApHC does not hold a judged trail ride, funds that would have been awarded at the trail ride will revert back to the funds for the Virginia Bred Year End Awards. 8) Any questions not covered in these rules may be directed to the VaApHC Board of Directors, who will have the final decision.
