St. Jude Faith Formation FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When will a list of meeting dates for each grade be available? Class schedules with detailed information for each grade will be posted on the church website by mid to late July.

What is the process for my child to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist? Preparation for these Sacraments is a two-year program beginning in the first grade.

Do students in a Catholic high school need to attend faith formation classes in grades 9 & 10? Confirmation preparation is a 2-year program and all students in 9th and 10th grades are required to attend classes at the church. This includes students attending Catholic high schools.

My child prefers to attend classes at St. Jude, but cannot make the scheduled times. Are there other options? An alternative day/time can be arranged for students in grades 1, and 3-8 if there are enough students to form a class, available space, and a teacher. Please call the Faith Formation Office with your request and we will let you know if an alternative class can be formed.

Is there another option if my child is not able to attend classes at the times offered for his/her grade? Students may choose to attend classes at St. Edward Church if that schedule is a better fit. Please see the link on the main Faith Formation page for an overview of the Faith Formation program and a complete schedule of classes in the collaborative.

How can I register for classes at St. Edward? First, register your student at St. Jude via the online form and choose the option, "Attending at St. Edward" when prompted for your class selection. Next, send your requested class, day and time that you would like to attend at St. Edward via email to Ellen at [email protected]. She will contact you by email to verify that space is available and provide information for completing your registration.

Can I home school my child? In home schooling, a child misses out on the communal dimension of faith formation and the opportunity to be in dialogue with peers as they learn. However, sometimes life circumstances or illness requires that a child be home schooled. Therefore, home study is available on a very limited basis for students whose learning needs cannot be met through regular classes. Parents are asked to contact the Faith Formation Office to discuss this option before registering.

What do I do if my child has missed one or more years of faith formation classes? Please call the Faith Formation Office at 508-528-1470 to find the most appropriate way for your child to join our program.
