1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A HOUSE RESOLUTION 10 11 TO CONGRATULATE THE DORMAN HIGH SCHOOL BOYS 12 BASKETBALL TEAM FOR CAPTURING THE 2017 CLASS 13 AAAAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE AND TO HONOR 14 THE TEAM’S EXCEPTIONAL PLAYERS, COACHES, AND 15 STAFF. 16 17 Whereas, fully prepared for the challenge, the Dorman High 18 School boys basketball team crowned an outstanding 235 season 19 by capturing the 2017 Class AAAAA State Championship title, 20 defeating Blythewood 5553 on Friday, March 3, 2017, at 21 Columbia’s Colonial Life Arena; and 22 23 Whereas, with the biggest prize in South Carolina high school 24 boys basketball on the line, the Cavaliers focused all their 25 knowledge, skill, and determination, took to heart their coaches’ 26 exhortations, and came through like the champions they are; and 27 28 Whereas, Dorman started the year as No. 1 and ended it that way. 29 In a thriller of a game, a backdoor layup with forty seconds to go 30 gave the Cavaliers the victory over Blythewood and handed 31 Dorman its first basketball state title in school history. The win 32 also earned Coach Thomas Ryan his first state title; and 33 34 Whereas, jubilant Dorman fans cheered with excitement as the 35 Cavs, with equal doses of heart and hustle, orchestrated a game 36 that gave sports pundits confidence in predicting a repeat 37 performance for 2018; and 38 39 Whereas, having honed his players into a championship machine, 40 Coach Ryan saw the fruit of his labors as the title trophy was 41 hoisted; and 42

[3938] 1 1 Whereas, the House of Representatives takes great pleasure in 2 recognizing the young men of the Dorman High School boys 3 basketball team for leading with excellence both in the classroom 4 and on the court and expects to hear of continued great 5 achievements in the years ahead. Now, therefore, 6 7 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 8 9 That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, 10 by this resolution, congratulate the Dorman High School boys 11 basketball team for capturing the 2017 Class AAAAA State 12 Championship title and honor the team’s exceptional players, 13 coaches, and staff. 14 15 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to 16 Principal Ken Kiser and Coach Thomas Ryan of Dorman High 17 School. 18 XX 19
