Overall Purpose of the Role

Do you have a passion for gathering, creating and packaging powerful content?

The Senior Content Officer will be responsible for leading content delivery for Raleigh International. Through this work you will ensure that we have powerful content and strong stories to clearly communicate our brand. The stories you gather will enable Raleigh to produce great marketing, training, fundraising and communications materials; report to donors and make successful media pitches.

An excellent interviewer, you will gather stories from within the UK, and in the countries where we work when necessary.

You will be a creative, skilled writer with an eye for a great story, and the ability to produce fresh and engaging online and offline content. You will also develop and grow Raleigh’s video resources.

The Senior Content Officer will be responsible for making sure that multimedia content is well organised and easily available across the organisation.

You will have excellent coaching and inter-personal skills. You will provide support and appropriate feedback to volunteers and staff based overseas who are gathering content from our programmes. As a member of our six-person, multi-disciplinary Communications team, you will help ensure that all our communications are on brand.

Accountabilities

1  Develop and deliver a structured content plan which cascades from the charity’s strategic objectives and communications objectives  Package case studies and evidence of impact for use across the organisation  Develop compelling content which resonates with each of Raleigh’s target audiences  Source stories, interviews and information from country staff, share this with relevant teams and support colleagues to update marketing and training materials with relevant up-to-date content  Manage the sourcing, creation and editing of video footage and manage Raleigh’s YouTube account  Develop and maintain a system for storing strong content in a way that makes it accessible to the whole organisation  Create and deliver briefs and help manage volunteer communications officers in the countries where we work, and support them to gather and write high- quality case studies and blog posts  Write copy for, and contribute to: donor reports; social media; our flagship Impact Report and bi-annual alumni magazine; as well as news pieces and alumni blogs on Raleigh’s website  Ensure all written and visual materials support our brand guidelines with the support of the Senior Designer and Communications & Campaigns Manager  Support the Communications team with media, crisis communications and other work at busy times

Person Specification

Essential Experience

 Significant experience in writing creative, clear and factually accurate copy for diverse audiences, including for the media  Evidence of interviewing and gathering stories and repurposing content for different channels  Proven experience of coaching others and providing constructive feedback.  Track record in developing engaging social media content to spark conversations amongst a variety of audiences  Experience of managing content development and planning

Essential Skills

 An exceptional eye for what makes a good story/strong content  Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills  Excellent spelling and grammar and strong editing skills  Proven analytical skills  Great organisational skills  Excellent administration skills

Desirable  Experience of developing content for specific audiences including Youth (17 – 24), 25 – 40 year olds, governments and corporates

2  Interest in environmental sustainability, community resilience and youth development issues  Creative video production skills  Photography skills
