Introduction to CTE - Engineering Course Outline Mrs. Goldman, CHS, 2010-2011

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The Engineering segment of the CTE introduction course will give students a sample of the skills used in the Polytechnic Academy using project-based learning. The students will be introduced to Engineering careers. They will learn some basic sketching and Computer Aided Design drawing techniques. The students will also construct and program a Lego Mindstormstm robot to solve a particular problem.

GENERAL GOALS/PURPOSES:  Students will develop a broad-based understanding of the underlying methodology of scientific processes, engineering problem solving and the application of technology.  Students will demonstrate an understanding of the principles of mathematics and their application to problem solving.  Students will demonstrate effective communication of information and solutions in a variety of contexts, including the preparation and presentation of information in different settings.  Students will develop interpersonal skills and work habits that will lead to employment.
