Meeting called to order at 6:06 pm. Acceptance of minutes; motion to approve by Peter Bealo, Second by Michelle Auger. Passed unanimously by committee.

Agenda Topics 15 MIN HEALTH CURRICULUM-1ST READ-MARY WIDMAN

Curriculum comes from Society of Health and PE (SHAPE). National Health education standards. The correct documents are in correct folders on Sharepoint. Discussion on when curriculum should be available for public DISCUSSION view. Currently, documents are available for committee access. Proposal to Create folder for Curriculum under review on Sharepoint after school board has had a chance to see them. Consideration to give out paper copies to anyone who requests.

Consider creating a public folder for curriculum in process of approval. Concern that public will slow down the CONCLUSIONS process and misunderstand some areas of instruction. Health curriculum accepted for first read (S Allaire motion/P Liff second; unanimous)

ACTION ITEMS PERSON RESPONSIBLE DEADLINE Table discussion for now, but have further discussion about how to get public Sue Sherman input on curriculum. S Sherman would like to explore this further in Sept.

INFORMATION, COMMUNICATON, TECHNOLOGY 15 MIN (ICT) CURRICULUM (K-8) -MARY WIDMAN

Information/Communication Technology Curriculum; All high school courses will be presented at same time. For K- DISCUSSION 8, skills and content comes first , then technology is added. Question about if the curriculum and technology plan are aligned. New technology director will have a chance to review the plan before finalizing.

Slated to go before school board on 5-19-16. All secondary instructors are using technology in their teaching; using DISCUSSION on-line texts.

TEXTBOOK FOR HUMAN RELATIONS BUSINESS 5 MIN COURSE-R CARLSON Timberlane Regional School District Minutes Template

Electives in the Business Department have been gaining popularity and growing;/ The course will be taught by DISCUSSION professor from SNHU. Book recommended by instructor who uses it at college level. 25 books requested at $20 each.

MATH FUNDAMENTALS CCP; PRE-ALGEBRA 15 MIN UPDATE-R CARLSON

Math Fundamentals Course designed as a freshman remedial course; does not meet Algebra 1 standard, but will DISCUSSION get students who are behind ready for Algebra/lab. Goal is to close gaps and get 9 th grade students ready for Algebra. Teaching will be highly differentiated and individualized depending on student needs. There is one resource text already available in district; second resource requested is OnRamp to Algebra; lessons are designed for 48 min block; highly engaging lessons. Pre-Algebra update: middle school math class designed to provide a foundation to students before they take Algebra 1 in 8 th grade. There will be one section for each team in 7th grade. Course will cover all 7th and 8th grade content strands, unlike the Foundations course. Decisions on who will teach the class are TBD. Teachers have had good success with Envisions math, but there is no Pre- Algebra course. Teachers have chosen Prentice Hall text/program for Pre-Algebra class. Request to purchase 60 copies- $4863.69. 3 classes of 20 students. Motion to accept Math Fundamentals course and text by M Auger; second by P Bealo. Passed committee CONCLUSIONS unanimously. Motion to accept text for Pre-Algebra class (Prentice Hall) by M Auger; second by P Liff; motion passed committee unanimously.

OBSERVERS RESOURCE PERSONS S Sherman proposes to move meetings next year to the first Tuesday of the month at 5:15pm. First meeting SPECIAL NOTES September 6, 2016. Will meet for an hour and a half. (5:15-6:45pm) Deb will check district calendar for conflicts. Last meeting is May 24 at 12:00. Lunch Meeting.
