Hands-On Exercises NYC History Dr. J. Reitano

Enjoy exploring history on your own by completing each of the following exercises. Submit one a week: Jan 24, Jan 31 and Feb 1. You can submit them in any order as long as they are not all bunched up together.

Halls and Walls: Walk the Halls and study the Walls. Select at least two historical panels that you find interesting. Explain why they caught your attention. Are they amusing, enlightening, surprising? Indicate the number of each panel. Restaurant: Savor NYC’s diversity by eating food that is NEW to you in a restaurant that is NOT in your neighborhood. Indicate the name and location of the restaurant. Write a restaurant review. How did the food differ from your usual type of food? Did the place have any special ethnic decorations? Were you reluctant to experiment? Did you feel welcome? If possible, submit a menu.

Historic Site Visit:

Briefly identify the site and its historical significance. Briefly explain what item from the site you found most interesting and why. Do not copy from the brochure. Call ahead for hours, directions, and fees. When fees are suggested, you need only pay a minimal amount. When fees are required, pay the student rate.
