Wide Range Achievement Test 4 (WRAT4)

Wide Range Achievement Test 4 (WRAT4)

Wide Range Achievement Test 4 (WRAT4) by Gary S. Wilkinson, Ph.D., in collaboration with Gary J. Robertson, Ph.D.

The Fourth Edition of this classic test measures the basic academic skills of reading, spelling, and mathematical computation necessary for effective learning, communication, and thinking. The latest edition features an entirely new subtest, Sentence Comprehension, to enhance the scope of the content assessed and to meet the need for a measure of reading comprehension. The new WRAT4 has four subtests:

 Sentence Comprehension  Word Reading  Spelling  Math Computation

In addition to providing derived scores and interpretive information for the four subtests, the WRAT4 yields a Reading Composite score obtained by combining the Word Reading and Sentence Comprehension standard scores. The Reading Composite score meets the need for a highly reliable, comprehensive measure of reading ability. The Spelling and Math Computation subtests may be given to groups or individuals; Word Reading and Sentence Comprehension must be individually administered. The test's two alternate forms (Blue and Green) can be used interchangeably as pre- and posttest measures or can be combined for a more comprehensive evaluation. Standard scores, percentile ranks, stanines, NCEs, grade equivalents, and Rasch ability scale scores are provided for the two forms and for both forms combined. Administration time varies depending on the age of the children tested: 15 to 25 minutes for ages 5 to 7 years and 35 to 45 minutes for ages 8 years and older. The interpretation of the WRAT4 has been enhanced by adding grade-based norms, thereby increasing the usefulness of the test in grades K through 12. The age-based norms have been extended beyond age 75 to age 94 years in order to assess the basic literacy of older adults. The WRAT4 was standardized on a representative national sample of more than 3,000 individuals ranging in age from 5 to 94 years. The WRAT4 is a quick, simple, and psychometrically sound measure of fundamental academic skills. It is helpful in diagnosing learning disabilities, assessing academic progress over time, evaluating achievement/ability discrepancies, checking progress in remedial programs, determining instructional needs, and assessing children whose performance is below that of their peers.

Wide Range Achievement Test 4 Scoring Program (WRAT4-SP) Enter raw scores from the WRAT4, and this convenient program will do the rest. It generates a comprehensive report that includes the following features:

 Score Summary Table, which shows raw scores, standard scores (based on either age or grade norms), confidence intervals (85%, 90%, or 95%), percentile ranks, grade equivalents, NCEs, and stanines--for each of the four subtests and for the reading composite score.  Standard Score Profile, which provides a graphic representation of standard scores and confidence intervals for each subtest and for the reading composite score--with percentile ranks and performance levels (from "lower extreme" to "upper extreme") clearly indicated.  Standard Score Comparison Table, which illustrates relative performance on WRAT4 subtests, noting degree of difference, as well as significance level and prevalence in the standardization sample.

In addition, the program lets you overlay profiles from previous administrations to the same client, producing a graphic record of performance over time. It also offers trouble-free navigation, built-in report editing, and the capacity to export client data to spreadsheets and incorporate reports into word processing programs. Plus, an optional password feature ensures that data are secure and private. Program Requirements: Windows 2000/XP/Vista; NTFS file system; CD-ROM drive for installation; Internet connection or telephone for software activation.

Component KIT: Includes 50 Response Forms (25 each of Blue and Green Forms); 50 Sentence Comprehension Response Booklets (25 each of Blude and Green Forms); 2 Word Reading/Spelling Cards; 3-Sentence Comprehension Cards; Manual
