Dear

Re: Risk Analysis for Good/Outstanding Schools

I believe Sarah Varnom has already written to you explaining that there will be a desktop review of performance for your school as part of the School and Learning Team’s on-going support for good and outstanding schools. I have been appointed as a reviewer for your school and will be carrying out the Risk Analysis shortly. It would be very helpful if you could send me, at your earliest convenience, a copy of your completed SEF (or alternative form of self-evaluation) and a summary of your internal tracking, indicating current standards and achievement by year group (please include end of year predictions for current years 5 and 6 as this may help in evaluating trends). You may add other data analysis if you feel it would be helpful, particularly where it relate to the achievements of specific groups of pupils (FSM, EAL, and SEND etc.). In addition, you are invited to alert me to any other specific factors which you feel could compromise the school’s ability to sustain the current school Ofsted rating over the coming year. For example, there may be difficulties in recruiting to key positions in the leadership team, the team itself may be relatively new and unproven, there may be rumblings of discontent in parts of the school that are impacting on staff morale, high teacher mobility might be eroding good practice etc. You are encouraged to be as open as possible, please, so that these factors are taken into consideration when assessing overall risk, otherwise the outcome of the desktop review will be of less value to you. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions about the process. I look forward to receiving the information requested above so that I may complete you school’s Risk Analysis and send you a summary as soon as possible.

Yours sincerely
