HMS CORE Meeting 12/1/10

HMS CORE Meeting 12/1/10 Guidance Conference Room 8am – 11:30am

1. Meetings will be held once a month – during the day if possible.

2. CORE Survey results reviewed; prevalent issues are: a. Scheduling b. Code of Conduct c. Homework Assistance Program d. Think Tank e. Size of CORE

3. Terms of CORE members discussed. 3 years will be the term limit. This process will be staggered at first so that the entire team is not replaced all at once. 1/3 of the team will be replaced at the start of the 2013-2014 school year. New members will be decided amongst the team/departments. If there is a conflict, CORE will make the final decision.

4. Representation was decided as follows: a. Administrators – will represent Food Services; Custodial Staff; HPER b. Aide – will represent 26 team/personal aides c. Secretary – will represent the secretaries (*exception – LMC); computer aides; hall monitors d. Counselor – will represent counselors; psychologist; OT/PT; ESL; nurse’s office e. SpEd – will represent all SpEd staff and BOCES f. AIS – will represent AIS; Speech; LOTE; LMC g. Tech – will represent Tech; PE/Health (*including lifeguard) h. Music – will represent Music; Art; FACS i. 6 / 7 / 8 – will represent respective grades

5. Unit Teams (ie, sub committees) were established: a. Scheduling – Jodi Follett, Chris Cerrone, Rhonda Wieder, Michelle Kujawa – this committee will meet with the superintendent before our next meeting in order to establish what possibilities we may pursue in changing the schedule and bussing. b. Discipline/Code of Conduct – Keith Kranick, Andrea Czerwinski, Heather Jason, Pam Bierl c. Character Building – Sue Knoche, Andrea Czerwinski d. Curriculum/Staff Development – Colleen Sperry e. Student Health – Jen Giallella f. Data Team – Jen Giallella

1 6. Homework Assistance Program (HAP) HAP was discussed and details will be finalized by administration. HAP will being in January.
