Fuel Price Report – February 2006

FUEL PRICE REPORT – FEBRUARY 2006

Despite crude oil prices being over $64 a barrel for more than half the month, fuel prices only increased by a marginal amount. (When oil prices were this high last summer, the average pump prices were around 4p a litre higher). During this period, the major oil companies released their bumper end-of-year profits, although these were made primarily on the exploration of crude oil and not at the retail end of the business. Oil has just dropped below $60 a barrel, but there is little hope that it will fall back to the $44 a barrel price of approximately a year ago.

Unleaded increased by 0.6p a litre to 90.0p. Diesel also increased by 0.6p a litre to 94.1p.

East Anglia still has the highest price of Unleaded at 90.6p a litre. Wales and the South West are just below at 90.4p a litre. North West has the cheapest at 89.4p per litre. Wales has the highest diesel price at 94.2p a litre and the North West has the lowest at 93p a litre.

Supermarket prices for both unleaded and diesel went up by 0.7p a litre.

LPG went up by 1p with Supermarket prices only increasing by 0.1p.

Overseas prices have also increased, in some instances by a much higher amount that in the UK, which leaves the UK with the 6th highest Unleaded prices in Europe.
