1. Cut out pattern pieces as noted. Seam allowance, except for * top knot bottom is ¼ inch. You are stitching from top (wrong sides together) –not turning anything. 2. Top Knot- Pleat the bottom of the top knot as indicated on the pattern and stitch across topknot to hold in place. Then stitch to top of the head.
3. Face- Cut out eyes and machine appliqué in place. I have included and alternate face too.
Lay beak piece on another piece of felt and stitch all around entire beak. Trim back piece to match front. Stitch in place as indicated on the pattern.
Lay the face/head right side up on a piece of felt and starting one side of the chin sew around the head/face stopping at the other side of the chin. Trim back piece to match the front head/face.
Stuff lightly. Stitch chin opening closed.
4. Arms/wings- Unfold wing piece and lay it on a piece of felt. Stitch around wing piece leaving area open as indicated on pattern. Note the stuff to line and stuff the “hand” area lightly. Stitch the opening closed.
5. Feet- Lay each foot right side up on a piece of felt. Stitch around entire foot as indicated on pattern. Trim back to match top for each foot. Pull back away from front and cut a slit IN THE BACK ONLY as indicated on pattern. Stuff each foot lightly through this back slit.
6. Assemble. I use a glue gun. Glue arms on-Bottom 1/3 of wings, about 4 inches in center back along ridge of basket. “Hands”- glue on each side of basket ridge. Head – glue on from the inside in center back with it slightly supported by the ridge of the basket. Glue feet as pictured to the front of the basket (the slit you cut to stuff them will not show when they are glued in place.
