HAS-BEENS, DRAG QUEENS, BOOZE HOUNDS AND ROMANCE… JUST ANOTHER DAY IN THE THEATER
Point of You Productions celebrates our tenth anniversary season with a fan favorite revival of the quirky British comedy A Midwinter’s Tale based on the original screenplay by Kenneth Branagh, adapted for the stage by Johnny Blaze Leavitt.
A MIDWINTER’S TALE celebrates the acting profession with all its passion, humor, drama and naïveté. Meet Joe Harper, an out-of-work and unlucky-in-love actor who attempts to salvage his pride by mounting a low-budget production of Hamlet. His auditions summon a most unpromising selection of misfits and has-beens, from which he hires a cast of six to play the twenty-four roles in Shakespeare’s greatest play. And have it ready in three weeks. Just in time for… Christmas?!
“It’s a comic look at the actor’s eternal despair.” – Kenneth Branagh
“It’s a bizarre British version of Point of You’s origins.” - Johnny Blaze Leavitt
“[It’s] SPINAL TAP for the Shakespearean set.” – Gayl Murphy, SW NETWORK
Can Joe knock his cast into shape, find an audience and keep the developers from shutting down the theatre with the first performance less than two weeks away? Will his broken heart be mended? Will Terry du Bois find a soul mate? Will Carnforth vanquish his ghosts? Will Henry ever smile? Will the myopic Nina cause a fatal accident before the curtain rises on what may well be Joe’s final performance?
Or will the theater work it’s unique magic on the lives of all concerned…?
A MIDWINTER’S TALE is directed by Jeff Love and features: Kathleen Rose Fletcher, Chris Keating, Johnny Blaze Leavitt, Meghan Love, Leslie Marseglia, Gerard J. Savoy, Olivia Schlueter-Corey, Lee Solomon, Tina Trimble, Felicia Eugenia Velasco, Paul Weissman, Morgan White and Lindsay Kitt Wiebe
