Dear Parents and Students,

I want to take a minute to introduce myself. My name is Megan (pronounced Meegan) Holt, and I will be Mrs. Burgun’s student teacher this semester. I am currently obtaining a Masters in Teaching with an emphasis in Secondary English from Belmont University. I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communication but soon found my calling in Education.

Originally from Shelbyville, Tennessee, I now reside in Nashville, where I live with one roommate and my orange tabby cat, Gnarly. In my free time, I enjoy music, traveling and being near the mountains! I love to hike and canoe, and one day hope to hike the Appalachian Trail. I also enjoy taking candid photos with my cat 

As a student teacher, I will help with the day-to-day classroom activities. After team- teaching with Mrs. Burgun for several weeks, I will assume the role of a full-time teacher for approximately eight weeks. I am very excited to be working with you and your child this semester, and I hope we can all learn from one another in the coming months. I have set personal goals for myself, as a student and a teacher, and I plan to conquer each goal with your help, your student’s help and the help of Mrs. Burgun.

I WILL…

 Dedicate my abilities to the academic and personal success of my peers, my learning community, my students and myself.

 Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment, which encourages individual and peer learning.

 Provide and facilitate an environment where all types of learners will thrive and grow.

 Encourage students to become informed and involved students of their community now and in the future.

 Encourage learning through discussions allowing the students to relate information to personal experiences.

I am looking forward to meeting to your child and helping him/her through this scholastic journey. Here is to a successful semester and year!

Sincerely,

Megan Holt
