THE IB DIPLOMA PROGRAMME (DP)

Please underline your chosen subjects below. One subject must be selected from each group 1 - 5 and either Visual Arts in group 6 or another choice from groups 1 - 4. Three IB subjects must be taken at Higher Level (HL) and three at Standard Level (SL). In addition candidates undertake an Extended Essay, undergo a Creativity, Activity and Service component, and study the Theory of Knowledge. IB content will be taught in the second and third years of study, upon completion of the pre-IB year.

Entrance Test

All applicants in Finland must attend an entrance test on Tuesday 24.04.2018. This test will comprise three sections: i) English proficiency ii) Mathematics and iii) Äidinkieli/Finnish* or a second English test for immigrants with limited Finnish skills.

*All students of äidinkieli in lower secondary school and/or mother tongue Finnish speakers must take this test. Students of Finnish as a Second Language (S2) have a separate test.

Applicants outside the country should apply to the coordinator to discuss administration of the test in a Finnish consulate/embassy in week 17. Candidates are responsible for making the necessary arrangements and fee payment.

Student selection

Students will be selected for admission on the basis of their performance in the entrance test (50%) and upon the average school grade from lower school (50%). A maximum of 35 students will be invited to join the programme.
