Working group: Aini Ostamo ([email protected]), Petra Verdonk ([email protected]), Iris Jonker ([email protected]), Dinesh Sethi ([email protected]), Sonia Ferreira Diaz ([email protected]) and Jutta Lindert
Violence is defined as the intentional use of physical force or power…against oneself, another person, or against a group or community…” (WHO, 2002). Violence is one of the major Public Health problems and in 2000, an estimated 1.6 million people worldwide died as a result of self-inflicted, interpersonal or collective violence. In our workshop we will focus this year on self-directed and on family and intimate partner violence. We aim to 1) get an overview on estimates of fatal and non-fatal violence of self-directed and on fpmily and intimate partner violence in the European region 2) get a picture on country specific patterns of self –directed and family and intimate partner violence 3) present epidemiological methods of monitoring violence
