Cultural Committee Meeting Monday, September 19, 2016 Red Bud City Hall Council Chambers (2nd floor)

Committee Members Present: Donald Thompson, Kyle Donjon, Clem Esker, Glenn Linnertz, Mike Reed

Committee Members Absent: None

Council Members Present: Bill Hanebutt, Clarence Nail Council Members Absent: David Friess

Others Present: Mayor Tim Lowry, Attorney Paul Ray, City Superintendent Josh Eckart, Code Administrator Jeff Mueller, Police Chief John Brittingham, Administrative Assistant Pam Poetker, City Clerk Joanne Cowell

Committee Chairman Thompson called the meeting to order at 8:01 P.M.

Old Business I. 150th Year Celebration in 2017 1. Event Update Poetker reported that long sleeve 150 shirts are going to be sold. There are some corporate sponsors for some of the events planned. A holiday lighting contest is being planned and the committee is possibly looking to the city for some prizes. A New Year’s Day event is being planned at noon on 01/01/17, possibly closing off streets, renting tents to provide some protection from the elements and selling refreshments. The committee is trying to plan an event for each month of 2017. Alderman Hanebutt said a holiday lighting contest is being discussed, with possible financial support from the city for prizes.

2. Financial Report The Red Bud 150 Budget was reviewed.

New Business I. Approval of Prior Month’s Meeting Minutes – Meeting August 25, 2016 Recommendation made by Committee Member Esker, seconded by Committee Member Reed, to approve the minutes from the August 25, 2016 meeting. Carried

II. Collections and Sales at the Four Way Stop A schedule of the 17 collections held at the 4-way stop for the past year was reviewed. Attorney Ray said persons collecting need to follow the ordinance regarding no signs in the street. Poetker said she would make sure the requirement is highlighted on the application and applicants are aware that signage is limited to being on the sidewalk only. After discussion, no action was taken.

III. Request from Perandoe to Reserve Lincoln Park #1, Less Fee – October 12, 2016 Recommendation made by Committee Member Reed, seconded by Committee Member Donjon, to approve the request from Perandoe to reserve Lincoln Park #1 on October 12, 2016, with no fee. Carried

IV. Request from Red Bud Pizza Hut to Collect/Sell Krispy Kremes on October 8, 2016, 7:30 – 10:30 A.M. Recommendation made by Committee Member Esker, seconded by Committee Member Reed, to approve the request from Red Bud Pizza Hut to collect/sell Krispy Kremes at the 4-way,on October 8, 2016, for the benefit of First Book, The Literacy Project. Carried

V. Request from Red Bud Muskets for Authorization to Host Homecoming Events at Lincoln Park Recommendation made by Committee Chairman Thompson, seconded by Committee Member Linnertz, to approve the request from the Red Bud Muskets to host homecoming events at Lincoln Park, October 6, 8, 9, 2016. Carried

VI. Public Comments/Anything for the Good of the City Mayor Lowry stated that the Evansville Knights of Columbus collection date of September 16th was rained out and Poetker will contact Tim Fahey to reschedule.

There will be a raffle license request from Les Amis (Friends of the Fort) on the council agenda.
