Unit 1 and Unit 4 - Assessments

A number of learning outcomes/ assessment criteria are holistically assessed within the two units. These are indicated within each task.

Task One (LO1 K 1.1, 1.2, LO1 C 1.1) (Assessment Method: PowerPoint Presentation)

 Explain the relationship between management and leadership and analyse how management and leadership styles impact on the achievement of organisational objectives.  Analyse how leadership and management theories may be applied in an organisation.

Task Two (LO2 C 2.3, LO1 C 1.5) (Assessment Method: Professional Discussion) – You will undertake a professional discussion with your tutor, where you will:

 Identify who stakeholders are and the nature of their interest in your organisation  Evaluate the role of stakeholder engagement in leadership and management and your organization.

Task Three (LO1 C 1.2, 1.6, 1.4) (Assessment Method: WQA)

 Assess the influence of an organisation’s culture and structure on its leadership styles and management practices.  Assess the suitability of leadership styles and management practices to the culture of an organization.  Analyse how theories of motivation may be applied in the practice of leadership.

Task Four (LO2 C 2.1, 2.2, 2.5, 2.6, 2.7) (Assessment Method: Witness Testimony) – Obtain a witness testimony from your mentor/ manager which confirms how you:

 Display behaviours and attitudes that show a commitment to the achievement of your organisation’s goals  Display behaviours and attitudes that show a commitment to the fulfilment of your organisation’s vision and the expression of its values  Win the trust and support of colleagues and other key stakeholders through exemplary performance and behaviour  Take action to maintain morale through difficult times  Take action to secure the on-going commitment of colleagues and other key stakeholders.

Task Five (LO2 C 2.4, LO3 C 3.1, 3.3, 3.4, 3.2) (Assessment Method: Observation – Your tutor will observe you leading a team meeting. Within your meeting you will:

 Take action to ensure that colleagues and other stakeholders understand their role in achievement of organisational objectives  Make planning and resourcing decisions that optimise the available resources, skills and expertise  Empower individuals to take responsibility for their decisions and actions  Adapt plans, priorities and resource allocations to meet changing circumstances and priorities  Use delegation techniques whilst delivering your targets. You are required to include examples of academic referencing within your assignments. Please ensure you use the Harvard Referencing system.
