POSITION: Income Maintenance Caseworker II / Income Maintenance Investigator I Family and Children’s Medicaid and Program Integrity Emphasis

This position serves as a member of the Economic Services team with primary responsibility to correctly determine an applicant’s eligibility for Family and Children’s Medicaid, to process Medicaid application initiated through the Federal Facilitated Marketplace of the Affordable Care Act and to perform Program Integrity duties and responsibilities to work toward preventing, detecting, investigating and prosecuting fraud with the federal, state and county Economic Services programs administered through the agency. In this position, workers monitor continual compliance with all program requirements while responding to client needs. The worker in this position must have excellent computer skills and have the ability to read and interpret policy, job aides and change notices in the automated system of NC Fast. This worker must also have good interviewing skills and the ability to communicate effectively with persons of all socioeconomic backgrounds. All DSS employees may be called upon to perform work during emergency or disaster situations including but not limited to staffing shelters overnight. This service, if required, will take precedence over duties described in this job announcement.

Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:

An Associate Degree in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associate, Paralegal Technology, Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or closely related curriculum and one year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; or graduation from high school and two years of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; or graduation from high school and two years of investigative experience in credit, legal, or law enforcement work plus six months experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

One year of experience as an Income Maintenance Caseworker is required for level II. All others will be hired at level I with a corresponding salary grade.

STARTING SALARY: Income Maintenance Caseworker II / Income Maintenance Investigator I Grade 17 $24,473 Income Maintenance Caseworker I Grade 15 $22,198
