South Davidson High School Advisory Council Meeting-Minutes

Date: January 11, 2010 In Attendance: Billy Hunt, Principal, Kelly Bledsoe, Corby Causey, Kim Strothers, Tim Bean, and Penny Hensley

Mr. Hunt opened the meeting by welcoming the members and extending his wishes for a Happy New Year to us all. As the first semester is winding down and exams are next week, we were informed of the exam schedule. Teachers are reviewing in class this week and offering after school review sessions for interested students. On exam days there will be review sessions in the afternoon for the following day’s exam. Students wishing to take advantage of these study sessions can ride the 3:00 buses home. For the students who do not have to stay for reviews, there will be buses that run at 12:00.

The District Reaccredidation Team will be at SDHS on Tuesday, February 2. A two- person team will visit and tour our school as well as interview staff, students, and community members. Mr. Hunt asked the Advisory Council to be a part of this event and share our school pride. We were given handouts of the itinerary for the day’s events, as well as the Mission Statement of SDHS, and a list of sample questions for the District Community Stakeholders. We are honored to be a part of the reaccredidation process.

On a side note, Mr. Hunt informed us that Davidson County will be offering free H1N1 shots on Thursday, January 14 from 3:30 to 7:00 p.m. at South Davidson High School. The public is invited.

Coach Shelton will have a student teacher for the spring semester. His name is Matthew Kiser and he is a student at Appalachian State University. Welcome Matthew.

Mr. Hunt closed the meeting by thanking the board for their continued support of our school.

Penny Hensley, Secretary, respectfully submits these minutes.
