Medical Director
Job Summary The Medical Director provides overall direction for the medical practice within the organization. The position assumes primary responsibility for the interpretation and enforcement of medical policy. This position is an advocate and leader in implementing our mission to “Affirm human rights to reproductive health and freedom.” Performs other duties as assigned.
Special Requirements The ability to influence and work with diverse groups of people; knowledge and skills in creating a learning environment including adult learning techniques; change/transition management skills and techniques; demonstrate group leadership and facilitation experience; and demonstrated experience with quality management principles and applications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
General 1. Interpret, maintain and evaluate performance standards of medical practice throughout the clinic and develop medical protocol as necessary. 2. Provide medical consultation to clinicians regarding the clinical management of specific patients. 3. Advise staff and participate when necessary in the development of contract relationships with other health care delivery systems. 4. Participates in the delivery of Semcac clinical services. 5. Promote teamwork, interdepartmental respect and trust through fostering cooperation and effectively handling personal conflicts and disagreements. 6. Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, and others in a courteous and professional manner. 7. Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions. 8. Conform with all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment.
Program Direction and Development 1. The clinical care of the Title X project operates under the responsibility of the Medical Director who is a licensed and qualified physician with special training or experience in family planning.

2. Participate in the organization, implementation and ongoing evaluation of organization programs. 3. Direct and supervise the medical aspects of organizational programs. 4. Responsible for setting policy and protocol as outlined by Planned Parenthood of Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota (PPMNS) and will approve the Medical Standards and Guidelines when it is revised. 5. The Medical Director also oversees the administration of the HPV vaccine, and hormone therapy to our transgender population, both non-Title X services.
Administration 1. Develop relationships within the medical community to extend the reach of Semcac Family Planning Clinic. 2. Determine clinician needs; recruit, train and supervise clinicians. 3. Participate in training and professional education of APRNs and other staff.
Public Relations and Advocacy 1. Represent Semcac Family Planning Clinic in its programs within the community.
Minimum Skills and Qualifications Required: Medical degree, License to practice in the state of Minnesota, board certified in family practice. Willingness to work with volunteers. Special training or experience in family planning.
