SKASC15 Apply performance analysis techniques to a coaching programme

Overview Performance analysis is an important component of a coaching programme for participants in many sports and activities. To be effective, performance analysis has to be properly integrated into the participants’ programme. It is vital that coaches analyse the participants current levels of performance, design and agree aims for performance analysis, select and plan activities and resources that will enable the achievement of these aims, assess and manage the risks involved. They should also integrate performance analysis effectively into the rest of the programme, directly coach the participants in the application of performance analysis, evaluate and review the participants’ progress, monitor and refine the performance analysis components of the programme. Coaches must also take account of guidelines from national governing bodies and their own prior experience when designing and delivering performance analysis practices.

K4 Methods to present the information collected from the performance analysis process in a format that can inform the coaching process. K5 The principles and practice associated with feedback provision to inform athletes and/or other coaches of the practical implications of the information collected through the performance analysis process. K6 The process of interpreting and using analysis information to inform coaching practice and coaching drills to bring about a performance improvement in coach and/or athlete behaviour. K11 Specialist analysis technology and methods to provide a greater depth of analysis of athlete and / or coach behaviour. This will emerge as a consequence of a more global and generic analysis process implemented within the coaching plan.
