Title: Four Things That Every Good Christian Should Be Text: I Corinthians 15:58

Bible Reading: I Corinthians 15:50-58

Introduction: (begin with a story, example or illustration to grab the listener’s attention) If we were to bring in a hive of live bees and turn them all loose in the building today, I am sure that they would quickly get your attention.

Transitional Sentence: Today I want you to pay as much attention to things that every good Christian should be as if we had turned live bees loose in the building.

Body of Sermon: I. Be Beloved Brethren A. Paul and other N.T. writers talk about brethren. Many were good, some were bad. We are to be the kind of brethren that Paul the Apostle would consider to be beloved; that are the best of the best. We need to work to be loveable (I Corinthians 13:1-8)

II. Be Steadfast A. If your car only starts one out of every 3 times, is it steadfast? If your furnace or air conditioner only work one out of every 3 days, are they steadfast. If your tools only work once in a while, are they steadfast. If your employee only shows up for work now and then, is he or she steadfast? B. As Christians we are commanded to be steadfast. (that includes being dependable) See Revelation 2:10b

III. Be Unmovable A. Too many are blown about by every wind and wave of false doctrine. See Ephesians 4:14 and James 1:6 B. We must stand firm for the Lord and His word no matter what, even if we seemingly have to stand alone; but we are not alone, for Jesus has promised that He will be with us always, even to the end of the world.

IV. Be Always Abounding In the Work of the Lord A. There are many good things that a Christian can be involved in, but the work of the Lord is the best thing of all. B. We are to ABOUND in the Lord’s work. Not just a little here or there, but an abundance of work for the Lord. He must be our first priority. See Matthew 7:21 and Ephesians 2:10

Transition: When we do these four things that we have studied about today, then we can know for sure that we are the kind of people that God wants us to be.

Conclusion: Are you living for God, as you should? Are you serving Him the best you can? He gave the very best He had for us when He sent Jesus to die for us on the cross. Since God gave His best and Jesus gave His all, what are you willing to do for God in return?

Invitation- First, you need to believe that Jesus is the Son of God.(John 3:16) Then, you need to repent and turn away from sins in your life.(Luke 13:3) You must confess the name of Jesus before men.(Romans 10:9&10) You must wash away your sins in the waters of baptism, a burial in water.(Romans 6:3-6) You must go on and live a faithful Christian life.(Rev. 2:10b) Perhaps you need to be restored or ask the prayers of the church in your behalf. Come forward if you have a decision to make for the Lord today.
