 Travelling lite with your thesis

Like yoghurt, a thesis can be flavoursome, but fatty. This session will offer an opportunity to trim it down to the main fruity bits and show what’s fruity about them, and how they can make the yoghurt of your research especially appetising.

Work, life, study – A balancing act

with Associate Professor David Beckett and three current RHD candidates (Names TBC)

Getting the balance right between work and life is a challenge, whether you are working full-time on your studies or fitting your studies in with other work commitments. Reflecting on their experiences, the panellists will offer tips and strategies for creating a healthy lifestyle – how it is possible to make the most of your studies while juggling the other things in your life.

 Ethics – It’s not that hard … really!

with Tim Mattingsbrooke (Human Ethics Consultant, MGSE)

A review of the research design and methodological considerations associated with performing research on human subjects. Tim will outline the requirements, responsibilities, and processes associated with applications for ethical review and approval.

 Slicing up the pie: presenting your research

with Associate Professor Neryl Jeanneret, Assistant Dean (Research Training)

Do you find the idea of turning your thesis into a publishable article a daunting one? If so, that might be because you’re bringing too many ingredients to the table. In this workshop Neryl will show you how to slice up the pie in such a way that your argument is clear, selective and streamlined - and perfectly digestible as a published journal article.
