Course Overview This course is designed to teach the Spanish language in everyday contexts through grammar, literature analysis, writing, listening, and speaking while exploring Hispanic Cultures.

General Expectations In the Spanish for Native Speakers course I expect all students to communicate exclusively in Spanish. I expect everyone to have the capacity to strive for a 90 or above average grade in the class. Please be aware that you must exercise personal responsibility in this classroom and are expected to follow the below- mentioned rules.

1. Follow all HISD policies including the School Code of Conduct. 2. Please be  respectful of all peers and school personnel  on time  prepared to work with a positive attitude  responsible for your own make-up assignments 3. Do not  bring food, drinks, or gum into the classroom  electronics of any kind into the classroom  use inappropriate language in the classroom

*Frequent non-compliance of the above expectations will result in disciplinary action, such as detention, and write-ups.

Required Texts/Materials  Sendas Literarias 1 & 2  Abriendo Puertas book series  Sendas workbook/Realidades workbooks  Organized pocket folder (divided into 5 sections) o warm-ups (in order by date, should be kept in the folder until the six weeks is over). o trabajo diario o notas o pruebas o examenes

Grading Exams/Projects -- 40% Daily Work – 40% Quizzes – 10% Participation – 10%
