TRADERS VILLAGE SAN ANTONIO TO CELEBRATE GRAND OPENING OF NEW RIDES, FOOD OUTLETS AND VENDOR SPACES APRIL 5

SAN ANTONIO, TX . . . Traders Village San Antonio (TVSA) has scheduled special festivities Saturday, April 5, to celebrate the completion of a major expansion that includes six new amusement rides, four food outlets and 300 vendor spaces at the sprawling shopping and family entertainment complex in Southwest San Antonio.

“We’ve seen nothing but rising popularity and steady growth since TVSA opened in 2011,” said Tim Anderson, president of TVSA as well as Traders Villages in Grand Prairie and Houston. “Our multi-million-dollar expansion of TVSA will give our San Antonio guests an even more-enjoyable experience as they hunt for bargains and take advantage of the many fun things to do with the entire family.”

Southside Chamber of Commerce officials will preside at an 11 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony Saturday, April 5, to officially kick off the expansion celebration. A festive parade will follow, and live bands, mariachi musicians, Las Monas puppeteers, face painters and a balloon artist will add to the fun.

The celebration will focus on the addition of 15 acres of family-fun attractions to TVSA’s existing, 100-plus acres, Anderson said. A Subway Restaurant will open along with a cantina – themed as “Traders Hall” – as well as the Village Pizza and Village Thai restaurants. Joining them are bumper cars, a colorful playground, a Pharaoh’s Fury swing ride, a 140- foot-tall Fleafall drop ride, a Scrambler spinning ride and a Bouncer up-and-down ride, he added.

Three hundred new locked retail spaces, additional air-conditioned restrooms, more shaded seating and several acres of new parking round out the expansion, Anderson said, “offering a first-class array of amenities and services for our guests.” Vendors interested in leasing the new locked retail spaces can call (210) 623-8383 for more information.

Anderson said the TVSA expansion comes on the heels of a special year for Traders Village in 2013 – celebration of the 40th anniversary of the original Traders Village Grand Prairie in the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Traders Village Houston joined the “family” 25 years ago in 1989.

“For just a $3 parking fee, TVSA guests can shop among more than a thousand vendors on any given weekend, enjoy amusement rides, take in free special events year-round and dine on a wide variety of tasty foods,” Anderson said. “Since the first Traders Village opened on Nov. 17, 1973, it’s been non-stop bargain-hunting in a safe, clean, enjoyable atmosphere.

“Saving money and having fun – that’s the simple-yet-very-successful approach that has guided Traders Village from the beginning. Today it’s more compelling than ever, especially in these uncertain economic times. TVSA and our other Traders Villages are the ultimate in practicality, affordability and enjoyment.” more Page 2 of 2 – Traders Village San Antonio Expansion Celebration Anderson emphasized that there’s a lot going on whenever Traders Village is open, but shopping is definitely the number 1 thing to do. “Any of our three Traders Village locations is a picker’s paradise,” he added. “You never know what you’re going to find. Fruits and vegetables, jewelry, clothing, automotive parts, furniture, art work, luggage, vehicles, home décor – you name it; the vendors make almost anything imaginable available at very reasonable prices.” TVSA, conveniently located at 9333 SW Loop 410 at Old Pearsall Road, is open every weekend, 52 weeks a year. Ideal shopping hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit www.TradersVillage.com, or call (210) 623-8383. -30-
