Notification of Local Government Pension Scheme Employee Contribution Rate with effect from 1st April 2015

Dear (Insert name)

From the 1st April 2014 all scheme members were required to be notified of their employee contribution rate on an annual basis by their employer following an assessment of your annual salary in accordance with the contribution bandings table (enclosed). I have therefore undertaken the assessment and concluded that your employee contribution rate with effect from 1st April 2015 for your role of (insert job title) is (insert % rate).

For employees with more than one job include separate contribution rates for each job.

The schools payroll provider has been notified of your contribution rate and will commence deducting pension contributions at this rate with effect from your April 2015 salary payment.

The contribution rate calculation takes into account your total annual salary inclusive of non contractual overtime and additional hours. Therefore where no non contractual overtime or additional hours have been worked in 2014/15 your contribution rate has been based on your annual salary (inclusive of any increment due on 1st April 2015). Where overtime or additional hours have been undertaken the contribution rate has also been based on an assessment of the previous 12 month’s total pay to project the appropriate contribution rate (inclusive of any increment due on 1st April 2015).

You have the right to appeal against the contribution rate that has been determined and if you wish to appeal you should do so in writing to me, within 6 months of the date of this letter, outlining your grounds of appeal.

Your contribution rate will be reviewed after 6 months of your date of commencement to ensure the correct employee contribution rate has been calculated taking into account your contractual salary and any non contractual overtime or additional hours. You will receive further notification upon the completion of the review.

Insert for casual employees only

Your contribution rate will be reviewed after 6 months to ensure the correct employee contribution rate has been calculated taking into account your current and projected earnings. You will receive further notification upon the completion of the review.
