The Revolutionary Newspaper Project

The Revolutionary Newspaper Project You will be working in groups of 3-4 reporters to create a newspaper about the American Revolution. You will be reporting as if the paper was written during the Colonial time period. The assignments should be distributed equally among the reporters in the group. Each day you will complete a “Progress Report,” which will be a DIRECT report to your teacher. This project will require research from multiple sources. Each edition will need to include the following items:

1) An appropriate title

2) An article about each of the following Acts: Sugar, Stamp, Townsend, Tea.

3) An article about the Boston Massacre.

4) An article about the details and impact of Proclamation of 1763.

5) An article about the Boston Tea Party and the punishments that follow (Intolerable Acts)

6) An article about the Declaration of Independence.

7) An article about the details and outcome of the following battles: Lexington and Concord, Battle of Kettle Creek, Siege of Savannah and Battle of Yorktown

8) Interview- conduct a mock interview with the following people: Elijah Clark, Austin Dabney, Nancy Hart one from the national level. The interview responses should include factual responses about the person’s experiences during war. 9) “Interesting Facts” about the war (at least 4)

10) Quotation (Include at 5 quotation from someone involved in the war/independence be sure to include who said it. These quotes must come from people not included in the interviews.)

11) A letter to the editor from a citizen of the Georgia taking each side loyalist and patriot. (1 from each member of the group. Again both sides should be represented)

12) Illustrations/pictures and captions (include at least 5 pictures related to the events and provide a caption for them.)

13) Cartoon: Political cartoon illustrating the feelings of the War. Day 1 Complete the checklist following as a team:

2. Begin rough drafts once you have finished researching. Once you finish your rough draft, you must proofread AND have a teammate proofread. Make revisions and then type your final draft into the template.
