1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 A HOUSE RESOLUTION 10 11 TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE 12 MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA HOUSE OF 13 REPRESENTATIVES UPON THE PASSING OF JOHN 14 SAMUEL MCCUTCHEN OF LEE COUNTY AND TO EXTEND 15 THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS LARGE AND LOVING 16 FAMILY AND HIS MANY FRIENDS. 17 18 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of 19 Representatives were saddened to learn of the death of John 20 Samuel McCutchen at the age of eightytwo on Sunday, November 21 1, 2015; and 22 23 Whereas, born in Rembert on April 17, 1933, he was the son of the 24 late Reginald Rawls and Mary Ann Wingate McCutchen 25 26 Whereas, Mr. McCutchen retired from DuPont and was a local 27 farmer who served on the Lee County Council for twentyfour 28 years and as chairman of the Public Safety Committee; and 29 30 Whereas, a member of Springhill Masonic Lodge No. 188, he was 31 instrumental in establishing the Springhill Fire Station and served 32 on the board of directors for Cassatt Water Company; and 33 34 Whereas, Mr. McCutchen was an avid NASCAR fan and formerly 35 owned a car that he raced in Darlington and Daytona in the 1950s; 36 and 37 38 Whereas, for sixtythree years, he was devoted to his beloved wife, 39 the late Frances Marian Trimnal McCutchen, until her death. 40 Together they reared two fine daughters, Rhonda McCutchen 41 Beasley of Maysville and Johnette McCutchen Caughman of 42 Springhill, and were blessed with three grandsons: Chad Beasley,

[4849] 1 1 John Caughman, and Reggie Caughman, and four 2 greatgranddaughters; and 3 4 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of 5 Representatives are grateful for the life and legacy of John Samuel 6 McCutchen and for the example of sacrifice and kindness he set 7 for all who knew him. Now, therefore, 8 9 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 10 11 That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, 12 by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the passing 13 of John Samuel McCutchen of Lee County and extend their 14 deepest sympathy to his large and loving family and his many 15 friends. 16 XX 17
