Books The cost of books is not included in the payment of tuition and fees. Please stop in the Bookstore located on the first floor near the main entrance to purchase books and inquire about the cost of books. Academic Year Fall semester goes from the end of August to the end of December. Spring semester goes from the end of January to May. Summer school is not considered part of the academic year (for financial aid) but courses taken will be credited toward graduation.

Incomplete Incompletes are given at the instructor’s discretion. An “I” grade indicates that an important assignment such as a term paper, final examination is missing and can be submitted later to complete the course requirement after arrangement with the instructor. Removal of an “Incomplete” establishes whatever grade warranted, provided that the work is completed prior to the midterm of the semester following the term the course was taken. Attendance Policy The attendance policy at South Suburban College is determined by each individual instructor. It is the student’s responsibility to fulfill the requirements set out by each instructor. Failure to do so may result in a grade adjustment or failure of the course. Students are expected to be on time for classes and observe appropriate classroom behavior. Grade Point Average (G.P.A.) An index or measure of your academic performance. GPA = number of grade points per semester hour earned divided by the number of credit hours attempted (minus withdrawals and incompletes and grades of “pass”). You need at least a 2.0 (C average) to graduate from South Suburban College Add/Drop Students may only drop classes during the first week of classes with permission from your high school. You must also obtain a signature from the Manager or Director of Registration to do so. A drop is not recorded on the transcript. Withdrawal is an action taken by students wishing to discontinue attendance in a course after the close of the Add/Drop period. They must follow the “Withdrawal from Courses” procedure. A “W” is recorded on the official transcript. Students may withdraw from class up to two weeks before finals. The specific cut-off dates are posted every semester. If a student does not formally withdraw from class, the instructor will give the student an “F” for lack of attendance. ** Notice** Below are the Add/ Drop and Withdrawal dates for fall 2017 semester.
