Creating FTP Connection

Dr Haskins, Here are some basic instructions on how to set up the Plaza FTP using Windows. These will not work for Mac’s though and they would need to use some kind of program like Fetch. ~~~~

Creating FTP Connection 1. Start -> My Network Places 2. On the left side under My Network Tasks is a link called "Add a Network Place" Click this.

3. This will open the Add Network Place wizard, click next on the first screen. 4. On The second screen you will want to select "Choose another Network Location", Click next 5. The next screen will prompt you to enter an Internet or Network address. Enter: ftp://plaza.ufl.edu and hit next.

6. Uncheck the box which say “Log on anonymously” but leave the username field blank. Hit next

7. For the name of the network place it would probably be advisable to leave it as plaza.ufl.edu but this can be changed to what ever the user wants. Hit next.

8. Hit finish. 9. A screen will open and prompt for the username and password. Enter the Gator link information. Enter this information and hit ok.

10. You will now see the contents of the plaza site

Accessing previously created network places. Simply go to the My Network Places and you will see the connection which was created. Double click on the connection and enter the username and password.

NOTE: The main page for plaza must be named index.html for plaza to load the page correctly.
